Job Description Job Title: Line Manager: Salary: Location: Hours: Contract: Holidays: LGB and T Outreach Officer Sexual Health Development Officer N/A - Voluntary The Rainbow Project, Belfast 5 hours per month (evenings and weekends) One Year Renewable (Probation Period 3 Months) N/A Aim of Post To undertake the health outreach programme with the Rainbow Project outreach scheme to provide health and wellbeing support and information to the LGB and T community Objectives To provide information and support around health and wellbeing issues that affect LGB and T people directly to the community To distribute safer sex packs to the LGB and T community To raise awareness of STIs and HIV To support the future development of outreach services supported by the Sexual Health Development Officer Key Responsibilities The LGB and T Outreach Volunteer will: Deliver and distribute safer sex packs to the LGB and T commercial scene in Belfast in order to work to decrease levels of undiagnosed HIV and STIs within gay and bisexual men Organise and develop a rota for Outreach sessions to the LGB and T commercial scene across the year (50 sessions to be delivered) to be staffed by volunteers Be present to deliver outreach sessions on evenings and weekends to the LGB and T commercial scene alongside volunteers Manage a small team of Outreach volunteers who will distribute and engage with potential service users on the LGB and T commercial scene Engage directly with service users to answer sexual health enquiries and provide information on Rainbow Project services such as rapid testing, advocacy, outreach clinics and support services Ensure the personal safety of themselves and volunteers attending evening outreach sessions Report directly to the Sexual Heath Development Officer to discuss any issues and provide monthly updates on the delivery of the service including numbers of packs distributed and volunteers attending Attend 6 monthly one to one reviews with the Sexual Health Development Officer Develop, where possible, any further opportunities for outreach volunteers Perform any other duties as agreed and required by the Sexual Health Development Officer Essential Qualifications & Experience - A commitment to the ethos of The Rainbow Project and its services Experience of working on own initiative with limited on-going supervision Experience of team work Enthusiastic and Empathetic Desirable Qualifications & Experience - Experience of coordination or development of services Experience in working with vulnerable people in a detached setting Essential Competencies - Good written and verbal communication skills; Good interpersonal skills; Commitment to equality and social inclusion; Commitment to confidentiality and impartiality.
