Objective
To determine the density of various objects and liquids.
Materials

Graduated cylinder

Procedure
Mass
1. Find the mass of each object using the triple beam balance.
2. Find the mass of each liquid by first finding the mass of the empty grad. cylinder.
Record this in the chart below. Then pour 25 ml of the liquid into the small grad.

3. Find the volume of a regular object by using a ruler to find its length, width, and

5. Find the volume of an irregular object by pouring water into the grad. Cylinder.

6. Now put the object into the grad. Cylinder (submerge if it tries to float). Record
the new volume.
7. Subtract the volume of the water with the object in it from the volume of the
water without the object in it. Record.

8. Use the density equation to determine the density of each substance. Record.
