Job Description Job Title: LIVING SKILLS CO-ORDINATOR Accountable to: Catering Supervisor/Life Skills Coordinator/Community Operations Manager Salary: SCP 14 - £16,297 per annum Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week/five days per week/Monday – Friday Job Purpose: To plan and deliver cookery/living skills sessions for young adults with complex physical and/or sensory impairments. Main duties and responsibilities: To lead and/or assist in the delivery of cookery sessions for young adults with complex physical and/or sensory impairments. Effective planning of these sessions will need to take place to ensure all runs smoothly. Support young adults in the Life Skills Centre, in the areas of cooking and food hygiene skills. Choose recipes that demonstrate key nutrition, food budgeting, and food preparation lessons each week. Assign participants kitchen tasks that allow each individual to gain hands-on practice and improve their cooking skills. e.g. use of kitchen machinery. Where appropriate keep observational records of the participant’s development. Work with and support Life Skills Centre staff, volunteers and those on work experience who may be assisting in the living skills area. Ensure all relevant paperwork is maintained to a high standard including: session plans, feedback, evidence sheets, evaluation and stock ordering. Ensure that orders have been correctly delivered and stored in appropriate places. Orders must be planned in advance and ordered the week before. Work within the constraints of a budget and plan cost effective sessions. Stock control; ensure that all the relevant stock is available, in date, replenished and undertake any necessary audits annually. Equipment maintenance; ensure that all living skills equipment is in good working order and reported if a fault is to be found. Contribute to the overall aims and targets of the Life Skills Centre. Provide ideas and recommendations to improve sales and profit and assist the Life Skills Centre Manager in the promotion of GK’s café business. Work as a member of the Life Skills Centre team in a supportive, co-operative manner. Undertake mandatory training and any other training relevant to the job. Participate in staff appraisals/supervisions in line with continuous professional development. At all times to work within the confines of the Chailey Heritage Foundation confidentiality of information policy and protect information held on both staff and users, both paper and electronic, exercising discretion, tact and diplomacy always complying with legislative requirements. At all times work within the confines of all the Chailey Heritage Foundation Policies, Procedures, Protocols, Guidelines etc. To undertake any other task that may be reasonably asked of you by the Life Skills Centre Manager To be flexible for occasions that may arise where some jobs require additional support, to include the possibility of working an occasional evening or weekend and help in the café, should it be required. Follow cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures. Understanding and abiding by health & safety guidelines and ensuring others do the same.
