This job description is a current statement of the duties and tasks required of the postholder concerned.

MAIN FUNCTION OF THE JOB








To assist in the recruitment of learners on the courses.
To deliver aspirational and professional cookery based courses.
To produce a scheme of work and lesson plans for the course delivered.
To produce relevant food orders and do such preparation as needed for the course.
To take responsibility for the relevant paperwork and record keeping.
To delivery specialist, informal and enjoyable cookery classes to adults in a college training kitchen
To produce recipes and relevant materials for participants on the course
To demonstrate a high level of food hygiene and professional working practice when delivering
practical aspects
To teach people of all abilities and backgrounds in a small class.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES










To produce schemes of work and session plans in the college format
To produce food orders and other organisational paperwork in the college format as applicable
To teach and/or assess learners in recreational cookery programmes.
To ensure that registers are completed accurately and promptly.
To ensure that programmes are delivered within designated timescales, and to report any emerging
issues to the Line Manager.
To help create, organise and run specialist cookery provision for recreational students.
To run specialist cookery programmes to motivate, inspire and enthuse participants
To ensure the safety of participants in a kitchen environment
To ensure requirements for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion are met
To ensure the kitchen environment is left clean and tidy at the end of each session
IMPLEMENTATION



To provide taught lessons, underpinning knowledge and assessment to individuals and groups.
To contribute to the production of teaching and assessment materials, as required.
To take ownership of specialist cookery provision as allocated and develop the
courses/programmes.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Education & Qualifications:




Relevant industry qualifications for the delivery subject
Relevant industry experience
Certificate of Education or equivalent teaching or training qualification or willingness to achieve.
Relevant experience with practical group teaching (desirable)
Relevant Knowledge & Experience:






Up to date practical knowledge and understanding of the course subject.
Excellent knowledge and understanding of food hygiene and clean working methods
A clear understanding of equal opportunities.
Excellent practical skills in the subject area
A proven background in the relevant area and skill set.
A clear understanding of the equipment in a professional kitchen environment and how to use it
safely.
