DUAL CREDIT 2015-2016
Dual Credit High School students must complete these steps:
1. Complete the WCJC application for Admission:
Apply online at www.applytexas.org
Follow the instructions to complete the online application. Please allow up to 72 hours processing
time. Students will receive an email once their application for admission is processed. The email
will provide information on how to obtain your Student ID Number.
2. TSI (Texas Success Initiative) Pre-Assessment and TSI Test:
The TSI is a test designed to help institutions determine if students are ready for college-level
course work in the general areas of reading, writing and mathematics.
ALL students taking DUAL CREDIT must have passing TSI assessment scores or qualify for one of the
following exemptions:



SAT combined Math and Critical Reading scores of 1070 with at least 500 on each of the two parts.
ACT composite score of 23 with at least 19 on the Math and 19 on the English scores.
PSAT combined minimum score of 107 with a minimum of score of 50 on the critical reading and/or
mathematics section linked to the subject area the student wishes to enroll in. If you met the PSAT criteria
for TSI exemption, you will be given a copy of your scores at the end of this meeting.
If a student does not qualify for a TSI exemption, the Pre-Assessment Activity MUST be completed prior to
scheduling the TSI test. The video link for the Pre-Assessment Activity can be found on the WCJC testing
website.

Students will watch the 7 minute video and PRINT out a Certificate of Completion at the end.
3. Schedule and pay for the TSI. It is your responsibility to schedule & pay for the TSI in the
business office of one of the WCJC campuses prior to registering for the course. The cost is $29
and you will need the printed Certificate of Completion when registering.
***You will need a picture ID on testing day.

4. Complete certificate for Early Admission form:
Signatures from the Student, the Parent/Legal Guardian and Principal are required.
(Attached you will find the Early Admission form which Mr. Tomas has already signed) Turn the
completed form to Ms. Spellman prior to June 4th. If you do not turn it in by June 4th, you will need
to hand deliver the form to WCJC before you can register for the class.
5. Register & pay for class: Log into “Online Services” and register for your class. Early
registration begins in early July. The tuition fee must be paid BY August 17, 2015. If you need
financial assistance, contact WCJC and ask to speak with a financial advisor.
