(3 with approval) – Juniors may take 2 course per semester. • Students complete the entire admissions process, plus a permission form for registration. Checklist Admission: • Submit an Application • Official Transcript • Meningitis Vaccination or waiver • Complete the TSI requirements Registration: • Register with an Academic Advisor • Pay for courses • Books Application for Admission • WHEN do I apply? – You may apply online for Fall 2012 now, there is no fee or essay. • HOW? – Complete online with the Texas Common Application at ApplyTexas.org Questions on ApplyTexas.org • • • • • • Create an account/ profile and then an application. Collin is a two year school. Our McKinney location is the only site option. You may select any available choice for major. Under Admissions Basis, you will select Dual Credit. Residency/ tuition is decided based on your answers on the application. -Questions? Please contact our Admissions office- Transcript • Collin needs the most recent transcript for every student. • It is used to meet testing requirements and set prerequisites. • It can help prove residency and defines your status. Texas Success Initiative • The TSI is designed to measure competency in reading, writing, and mathematics. • It is used for placement purposes. • All students not eligible for an exemption must take an approved placement test prior to enrolling in any Texas public college or university. The purpose of this assessment is to find out what level you should start your coursework. If you do not place at college level, that means you need to focus on your high school work at this time. - This is NOT uncommon. Fall 2012 Important Dates • You have a priority registration date! – Friday May 25 10:30-2:30 pm at Wylie High School – This is the early day, not the only day • Registration must be complete by – Friday, June 29, 5:00 PM • Payment due: Friday, June 29, 5:00 PM • Fall semester: August 22nd-December 9th Tuition • $34 per credit hour for students residing in Collin County =$104 for a 3 credit hr course • $63 per credit hour for student residing out of Collin County • $118 per credit hour for out of state or out of country students Get Books • You have to buy books in college! • You can find out which books to get from the College bookstore by going online to their website. • You may purchase books from your preferred retailer. What if my student can not attend registration? • Parents may register for their student with a letter of release and a photo ID. • The letter is only good for one day. • Needs to include the students name, your name, the date, what you are going to do and the students signature.
