Spare Time: sailing, surfing, flying & fishing (Marianne & I are trying to get JB to produce kayaks & bicycles next, maybe he will share some of the profits with us... HA! HA! HA!). Swine Not! If this is not the definition of a workaholic I don't know what is. Jimmy is truly a GENIUS when it comes to making money. I have seen a bumper sticker which read: BUFFETT '08, if anyone can turn our economy around it's Jimmy. On Election Day ask for a write in ballot and leave the rest to Jimmy. I'm exhausted just thinking about what he has accomplished, I need a margarita to help me relax! Mahalo, Al SWINE NOT? May 13th marked the release of Jimmy Buffett’s 7th book, Swine Not? Jimmy made several appearances that day promoting his newest endeavor. Buffett could be seen on Regis & Kelly and The Today Show. On May 21st, Jimmy appeared on the David Letterman Show. He sung “Volcano” with Mac McAnally and the Paul Shaffer band. A web exclusive of “Bama Breeze” can be seen on the CBS Late Show website. As of press time, Swine Not? is on the following bestseller lists: #6 – Publishers weekly #6 - New York Times #17 -USA Today #25 – Amazon “Well, now life throws us curveballs that we never can reach” (but bring a glove just in case!) Once again, we will be joining The Alzheimer’s Association for their annual fundraiser at Shea Stadium. What better way to say good bye to a stadium where some of us attended our very first baseball game, then to share it with fellow parrot heads for a worthwhile cause? (Are you weepy yet?!) The Mets will be playing the SF Giants on Wednesday, July 9th at 6:30 pm. If you want a chance to see 1 last game at Shea and show your support….here’s your chance! Please send a SASE and a check for $21.00 before June 30th to me at: Terri Amundsen 30 75 34 ST Apt 3H Astoria, NY 11103 THANK YOU! Buffett Blurbs 5 Questions for JB USA Today: Craig Wilson 1: Your new novel is about a pet pig living in a four-star New York City hotel. It's a bit of a departure for you, no? No boats or islands or bars or ballads or beaches. This one just popped into my lap. I liked it. Starts out as one thing and ends up as another. 2: Is a pig going to go on tour with you this summer? Absolutely not. There may be a pig showing up on the Today show. 3: Was that pig really there on the beach when your photo was taken for the jacket? No, he was not. We attempted to film myself with the pig, but the pig bit me twice. Hell with that pig. The pig is just kind of laid in there in that photo. 4: Obviously Parrot Heads read. Your Tales From Margaritaville was the longest-running best seller of 1989. What's your trick? You know, I don't know. You have to challenge yourself. I still fly airplanes for the same reason. You have to keep yourself on the cutting edge. I never tried to write the great American novel, and somehow there was a reading audience. People who never picked up an album but they liked my book. 5: Is it still good being Jimmy Buffett? It still is. I never thought, at 61, I'd still be contemporary. It's been a great run. SNL 30th Anniversary May 13th marked the 30th anniversary of Jimmy’s appearance on Saturday Night Live. As the musical guest of the evening, Buffett sang “Son of a Son of a Sailor”. Since this episode appeared before my time, I will be picking up the newly released SNL DVD featuring Richard Dreyfuss as the host, and of course Jimmy Buffett. (BTW-Who’s this Dreyfuss guy?) Jimmy Sponsors Windsurfer How lucky is Antoine Questil? Jimmy Buffett has decided to sponsor the 24 year old French windsurfer. Questil is currently competing in the Euro-Cup Mondial du Vent. Buffett: Honorary Chair On May 11th, Sean Payton announced his newest play: Payton’s Play It Forward. This new foundation will host its first major event October 10th with a Black & Gold Gala. The Honorary Chair of this star-studded event is none other but Jimmy Buffett! National Bubba Day June 2nd This day honors all those formally and informally named Bubba!
