Science News Current Events Current Events must: 1. Relate to Earth and Anatomy and Physiology. 2. Be from a periodic news source. a. Examples: Popular Science, American Scientific, The Asheville Citizen Times, CNN.com 3. Have a Summary of the article in your own words a. 150 word minimum b. How to Summarize: i. Distinguish Main Ideas from details ii. Write in phrase form iii. Begin with an introductory statement iv. Turn main ideas into sentences and include a few details v. Combine the sentences vi. Incorporate transition words vii. Proofread! 4. Include a Personal response to the article a. 30 word minimum 5. Include either a copy of the news article itself or a copy of the link to the story. Late papers will lose 10 points per day up to 3 days. After that, the highest grade that can be earned will be a 50. The 50 will still have to be earned. I will not accept late articles one week after the original due date. Current Events count 5% of your semester grade. Failure to turn in articles will affect your grade significantly.
