Dear Third Grade Family,
This week students worked on Author Study compare/contrast essays, learned how multiplication and division are inverse operations, reviewed author’s purpose and theme, and used adverbs in their writing. Also, students learned about Martin Luther King Jr. today. We discussed how he was able to overcome many challenges and persevere. Students thought about their own dreams for their community, school, and the world. I was very proud of their ideas!
Looking ahead to next week, there will be two assessments taking place.
On Wednesday, students will take their math chapter 5 test (division). We will be completing a review in class on Tuesday. On Thursday, students will be taking their chapter 5 social studies test. We will use Tuesday and Wednesday as review days.
In addition, today students brought home a handout from music class.
This handout explains that students will be starting to play the recorder and will need to order their instrument. Please note that recorder fees are due on
Friday, January 22.
Lastly, please send in all donations for Project Linus no later than
Wednesday, January 27. We are collecting 2 yard pieces of fleece or monetary donations to purchase the fleece and materials for this project. We are thrilled that this will be our service project for Catholic Schools Week this year! For more information on Project Linus please visit http://www.projectlinus.org/about/ .
Sincerely,
Miss Eick
