Defining Words in Context
• We are going to read chapter 4 together and
when we get to one of the words on our
sheet, we are going to stop and try to define
it.

Strategies for Context Clues
• Read the sentence before and after.
• Figure out if the word has a negative/positive
“feel” to it.
• Try and see if you have any words that help.
• Is the word an adjective? Is the word a verb?
