Rory Smith made a presentation regarding Summerland Minor Hockey Society constitution & bylaws. SMHA needs a meeting of members to approve amending existing constitution to adopt new bylaws. The date for this meeting will be set as per Rory’s schedule. MOTION – To accept June minutes as presented (Rachel/Jodi) carried (unanimous) MOTION – To accept July minutes as presented (Karalee/Shannon) carried (unanimous) EXECUTIVE REPORTS: Secretary (Brenda) – Martin’s Cleaners will clean jerseys. Head Convenor (Jodi) – No report. Initiation Convenor (Rachel) - No report Assistant Referee in Chief (Dave) – Requested 2 voluntary on ice session for officials and 1 mandatory ice session. A yearly clinic should be held for all referee applications. Equipment Manager (Wayne) – Recommended jersey replacements for next year: Midget – 44; Juvenile – 6; Midget House – 43; Bantam Rep - #2 jersey; Atom Dev – White #16 jersey missing since 2009; Squirts - #1 jersey missing; 220 white jerseys need cleaning; Team sponsorships need to be in place by 2nd week in September. Claim $50 jersey deposit on missing jerseys at year end. Purchased 2 pucks per player. Will request a quote on new locks with 3 keys per team Head Coach (Gus) – BY EMAIL: Following head coaches were chosen: Peewee House – Darren McWatters (may have to re-assign as he has been injured) Peewee Rep – Blaine Brennan Bantam House – John Trewitt Midget House – Wade Parker Midget Rep – Cal Johnson Gus would also like to have all coaches’ evaluations be made available to committee members. Vice-President (Blaine) – ATOMIC jerseys will be coming from MacDonald’s. There will be 18 jerseys which will be keepers for outstanding players. Skills camp – waiting to see what profit will be coming from BC Hockey. All players had a good time and learned new skills. Member at Large-apparel (KaraLee) – Sherwood Trophy will supply a pamphlet on apparel quotes. She will sell the wrong colored socks as practise socks and hats at $20. Initiation Co-ordinator (Terry) – Following coaches were chosen: Atom Development – Head Coach – Gus Cave; Assistants – Blaine Brennan, Terry Rolston, Ross Montgomery Novice B/C – Head Coach – Chris Becker; Assistants – Dan St. Hilare, Glen Herman Novice A – Head Coach – Joel Shaw Atom House – No coaches Squirts – No coaches Terry is also checking into purchasing goalie equipment Treasurer (Liz M) –Income Statement presented Tournament Coordinator (Liz P) – Sanctions will be done this week. Request from over-age Bantam House player must be approved by OMAHA. Registrar – (Shannon) – 171 registrations have been received as follows: Squirts –7; A-18; B-9; C-23;Atom Dev-20; Atom House-12; Peewee Rep-20; Peewee House-8; Bantam Rep-12; Bantam House-7; Midget Rep-13; Midget House-22. Information will be received from Penticton regarding Bantam Rep players after their executive meeting. Risk Manager – (Char-lynn) – She is getting first-aid kits organized for each team Member at Large – (Andrew) – Presented information on IMPACT software. MOTION – To purchase IMPACT software package of 300 for $500 as long as it does not expire within one year (Liz M/Liz P) carried (unanimous) Andrew requested that recognition be given to a merchandise sponsor on jackets, track suits and board advertising. More information is needed regarding prices. Vice-President (Blaine) – Blaine, Gus and Terry will choose members for an evaluation committee for Peewee Rep and Midget Rep. Blaine will provide an ice schedule for the tryouts. President (Crystal) – OMAHA meeting will be held in Vernon on September 8 and 9 and Registrar, Referee in Chief, President and Head Coach must attend. Jodi will send out an email reminder of Registration Night and Equipment swap on September 4. Equipment drop off starts at 5pm and registration at 6pm. SMHA office set-up will be August 29th at 7pm. New doors have been put on the arena so new keys will be needed for coaches with morning practises. Coaches/Managers meeting will be September 16th at 7pm in the banquet room or curling club. Regular season starts for Rep teams on September 28th and house teams on September 30th. Criminal Record checks will be done at the next meeting for executive members. Power skating will be offered by the new coach of Summerland Figure Skating club on Friday 3:30pm but cost is not known yet. MOTION – To apply to OMAHA to host Peewee Tier 3 Provincial Championship in March 2013(Blaine/Dave) carried (unanimous) MOTION TO ADJOURN MEETING AT 9:34PM – (Rachel) NEXT MEETING WILL BE TUESDAY, September 18th at 7pm at the Fire Hall
