Home Front WWI For Success “Over There” Success First needs to Start Here World War I was looked at as the War to end all Wars. It took every man, women and child to fight this war on land, air and water. In order for your men to be successful on the battle front they had to have a strong, supportive home front. In groups, you will come together as a sub-committee under the War Industries Board to create a propaganda poster to help “inspire” the American Home Front. These should promote the war based on the topic you have been assigned. Answer your group questions and then get started on your posters! Group 9 – Victory Gardens What are victory gardens? What was the purpose of these victory gardens? Groups 10 and 11 – War Financing How much money was spent on the war? How was 1/3 of that money raised? How was the rest of the money raised? Group 12 – Espionage and Sedition Acts What are the Espionage and Sedition Acts? What are the consequences? How did this effect magazines and newspapers? How does this go against the Constitution? Groups 13 and 14 – The Great Migration What is the Great Migration? What factors led to the Great Migration? Groups 15 and 16 – Women What kind of jobs did women start working? Why did they take these jobs?
