MERIVALE HIGH SCHOOL Canadian and World Studies Department CGG3O - Travel & Tourism Prerequisite: Grade 9 Geography COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course explores world geography by examining various regions of the world through systematic geographic inquiry. Regions of study are selected to highlight certain cultural, physical or demographic characteristics. By the end of each unit students should be able to identify and explain some of that regions special characteristics qualities with a full understanding of what makes each region a tourist destination. Assignments Basic requirements: -all work must be legible and in ink (blue/ black pen or word processed). -all word processing must be size 12, standard font, with standard margins settings -all assignments are to be handed in at the BEGINNING of class -any assignments not handed in at the beginning of class will be considered late. -late assignments will be given a score of 0 until the assignment can be ‘made-up’ or re-evaluated at a later date. Any assignments COPIED from another source (unless properly referenced) will receive a mark of 0. -assignments copied by another student will result in a mark of 0 for ALL students involved. -a fellow student may not be referenced as a source!!! The Working Environment As mature high school students you are expected to be able to conduct yourselves in a mature and orderly fashion at all times. Respect for other students comments, ideas and working environment is needed, and required at the senior level. Some students may not agree with all the views or concepts brought up in class, but all students must be willing to examine different points of view with an open mind. Students MUST come to class prepared to work and participate on a daily basis!!! All students are expected to contribute to the learning environment. As a class we will all benefit from participation and share of ideas. Please come to class ready to share your experiences, thoughts, and ideas.
