Speech 204 / Speech 205 Final Speech For your final speech, you will be creating a short, informative speech. Guidelines are as follows: 1) You will be given a vague topic from which you will need to narrow and create an intriguing informative topic (for example: fashion was the vague topic given, and the speech was about the history of silk, how it works, and famous icons who wear it). You must tell me your narrowed/intriguing topic before ___________. (This is part of your final grade) 2) Research the topic on your own and have at least two oral footnotes/citations included in your speech. The topic you chose must be one you can research, since you MUST have oral footnotes/citations. If you do not have oral citations, you will receive a ZERO on your entire final! 3) Create a typed, final word outline for your speech with a bibliography to turn in on the day of the finalthese must be printed before you come! I will not be printing them! Do not e-mail it to me either! If you do not have it at the time of your speech, you will receive a zero for that portion. Please refer back to your informative speech packet if you forgot how to create it. 4) Your speech must be 1 ½ to 2 minutes in length. You will lose points for going under or over the limit. If you go over 2 minutes, you will be stopped. You may only have one notecard with you when you present. 5) You must have a poster board visual aid- large enough for the entire audience to see. No power point or keynote this time, only a poster board, and yes, it is REQUIRED! Do not just print out one page of paper either and show us. Make a poster board and put some time into this. 6) Your final grade will be comprised of your topic approval, your speech and outline, all of which count for 80% your final grade. Your positive, nonverbal attitude/feedback during the final, your peer evaluation of three other speakers, and an evaluation of your own speech will account for 20% of your final grade. Please refer to the rubric for more guidance on how the speech/outline will be graded.
