Credit: 1 credit - meets 50 minutes, 6 days per cycle, full year
Prerequisites: At least a 70% final average in Academic Geometry (MTH2300)
Open to: Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors

Course Description:


Academic Algebra II is our rigorous course in second year algebraic
concepts and applications.
Students who attain great success may advance to Honors Trigonometry
(MTH3520). Most students will be advised to continue their mathematics
learning with Academic Trigonometry (MTH3320) or Probability and
Statistics (MTH4330).

You will engage in the content, while collaborating with your peers.
We will focusing on content that you will need to help you succeed in
school and the real world.

We will use Cognitive Tutor to practice & master key concepts in class
two days out of the cycle.
Suggested Course Materials:
For this class you will need:
 1- 1.5” three-ring binder
 1 – One subject notebook
 Pencil/Pen
 Calculators are available for in class use.
***It is NOT a requirement for you to purchase a graphing calculator for this
class, however if you wish to have your own, the math department recommends a TI-83
or TI-84.

Look at HW Board and write down assignment
All HW assignments will be on Schoology also
You must complete all homework in pencil, with your work shown
All missing assignment/assessment must be completed at school in a
timely manner during Pride period, study hall, lunch, before school, after
school, a free period, or during class as arranged with the teacher





Tests are announced approximately 1 week in advanced
If you are absent on the day of an exam, you are expected to see me to
make up the exam as soon as possible (either in class the next day or in
a study hall). I will not chase after you to make up work that you
missed!!!
All assessments must be made up within two weeks from the date of
absence.

Marking System:
The faculty makes every effort to mark on a fair and accurate basis. Students are
graded on a comparative basis according to standards established by the individual
teacher.Numerical grades are used and are representative of the following degrees:

Grades for all graded assignments will be uploaded to PowerSchool in a timely fashion. If you
see a discrepancy on PowerSchool, please do not hesitate to let me know. I want to make sure that
your grades are accurate online and if I make a mistake please don’t be afraid to point it out to
me. 

Late Work
Homework (Building Knowledge)




Students may earn partial credit for theses assignments if they are completed before the
final summative assessment of the unit. 10% will be deducted per class period for late
work until the value depletes to 0%.
Students will NOT have the opportunity to submit late homework for credit once the
teacher has reviewed the answers to the assignments in class.
All missing assignment/assessment must be completed at school during Pride period,
study hall, lunch, before school, after school, a free period, or during class as arranged
with the teacher.
If you missed an assignment for extenuating circumstances, please see the teacher
personally.
Assessment (Demonstrating Knowledge)

If a student fails to complete the final unit assessment before the end of the next unit, the
student will receive 70% of the earned grade once it is completed.

(Some assignments may not apply to submission of late work. (i.e. graded and reviewed class
work or homework)
Missed Work Due to Absence
Legal Absence:


A student will be allowed two class period days to complete all missed in class activities
or homework assignments due to illness. (Extensions may be granted to extenuating
circumstances)
All assessments shall be completed within 2 weeks from the date of absence.

Second Offense: Zero for the assignment
Third Offense: Meeting with administration/teacher/counselor

Bring your laptop EVERYDAY
Laptop must be charged BEFORE you come to class
Cell Phones
Cell phones are NOT to be used during class time unless permission is
granted by the teacher.
