Learning Objectives:

1) Practice using Excel - skills practiced: wrap text, landscape sheet, create / name new sheets, organize a table for data entry, practice basic formulas, insert graphs to reflect the data.

2) Become more self-aware of personal eating habits.

PART 1 - Web Quest

Directions:

1) Save a new word document as: "Thinking about Health"

2) Complete the Web Quest. Use the websites listed below to answer the following questions on your Word document:

PART 2 - Food Journal

Directions:

1) Create a new spreadsheet and folder titled "Food Journal."

2) Make sure you have 7 worksheets. Insert, Worksheet

2) Label your sheets:

- Example

- Friday

- Monday

- Tuesday

- Wednesday

- Reflection

- Grade

3) Build a Data Table for the Monday - Thursday sheets. It should look similar to this:

4) In the "Foods Consumed" column, list the foods and drinks you consumed throughout the day.

5) Give a numeric value to the types of foods you ate. Use numbers to quantify the serving size.

For example:

* If you eat 1 apple for a snack, the serving size should be listed as "1" in the fruit row.

* 1/2 cup of vegetables is 1 serving. If you ate about 2 cups of salad, the serving should be listed as 4.

6) Total your serving sizes. In the "Totals" row, write out the formula for SUM. Do this for every food group.
