BHABHA ATOMIC RESEARCH CENTRE
Ph.D Programme
Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) is a premier Institution for Research &
Development (R&D) in Nuclear Science & Technology, in particular, and in Biological,
Chemical, Engineering and Physical Sciences in general. The Centre has not only been the
backbone of the Indian Nuclear Energy Programme, but also has been in the forefront of
research in other branches of Engineering as well as in Basic Sciences.
BARC conducts Ph.D programme in various Engineering disciplines and in Basic Sciences
such as Physical, Chemical and Life Sciences.
BARC invites applications for its Ph.D Programme.
Selection Process
Selection for the Ph.D programme is a two-step process: screening to short-list Candidates
followed by Interview of short-listed candidates.
Screening for Engineering Sciences shall be through—Written Test-2010 or on the basis of
valid GATE -2009/GATE-2010 score.
Candidates who do not opt for GATE or who do not qualify on the basis of GATE Score may
take the Written Test.
Screening for Physical Sciences shall be on the basis of one of the following.
GATE-2009/GATE-2010 score.

Score in Joint Entrance Screening Tests-2010(JEST-2010)
Written Test-2010 score of the BARC Training School.
ELIGIBILITY
(a) Qualifying Degree and other Academic Qualifications.
(b) Those candidates having M.Sc in Physics/Chemistry /Biology or related Science
subjects with minimum 60% marks in M.Sc as well as BSc or B.E/B.Tech or
equivalent with minimum 60% marks in one of the following Engineering disciplines:
Chemical,
Computer,
Electrical,
Electronics,
Mechanical,
Metallurgy,
Instrumentation are eligible to apply.
(c) Applicants for Physics discipline should have Physics and Mathematics up to BSc.
(d) Applicants for Chemistry discipline should have Mathematics up to XII standard and
Physics up to BSc.
(e) Appearing Candidates can also apply.

Disciplines.

April 15, 2010 for those who wish to register for BARC Written Test in
Engineering Disciplines.

ADMISSION TO MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (MBA)
LMT School of Management (Thapar University, Patiala) has opened admission for
MBA programmes with specializations in Operations, Finance, Marketing, Human
Resource Management, Environmental and Energy Management and Information
Systems.
ELIGIBILITY
BE/B.Tech Degree in any discipline or M.Sc/M.A in Mathematics/Statistics/Computer
Science /Electronics/Physics/Operations Research/Information Science/ Information
Technology or MCA with at least 60% marks in aggregate or 6.0 CGPA or equivalent
grade from a recognized University.
Candidates with Non-Engineering Bachelor’s Degree in Science will also be considered
for admission with one Year Bridge Course for direct entry to the MBA programme
provided a candidate is having Bachelor’s Degree in Science of minimum 3 years
duration in any discipline with Mathematics/Statistics as one of the subjects with at least
60% marks in aggregate.
SELECTION PROCEDURE
Candidates appearing for CAT/GMAT will be considered for admission through GD and
Personal Interview. The candidates who did not take CAT/GMAT will be required to take
a formal test to be conducted by Thapar University on 7th February 2010.
