Engineering Intern (12 Months)
Siemens Traffic Solutions | Poole
We are looking for an engineering student to join our Traffic Solutions department, a part of the Mobility division, on a
12 month internship. For Siemens plc, Traffic Solutions has an extensive, innovative portfolio of traffic management
products to reduce congestion and keep traffic moving (including traffic signals, controllers, embedded computers and
sensors, central office traffic management software and bespoke mechanical products). Our innovative Engineering
Department is seeking students on summer placement to take part on cutting-edge product and software
system development. We are engaged in all aspects of software and hardware design, mechanical design and support
for our many and varied customers.
The engineering function has five main functions of safety management, engineering support, maintenance
optimisation, major repair management and configuration control, each supporting the daily running of the business.
What are my responsibilities?
You will to apply yourself to solving Engineering challenges depending on your specialisation and interest.
This may include activities such as:
 Design and development of embedded products (embedded sensors and Linux-based devices)
 Design and development of engineering tools and system software (using C++, C#, SQL etc)
 Assisting with mechanical design (3D CAD)
You will be working with engineers who will support and mentor you during your time with us.
What do I need to qualify for this job?
 You should be working towards a degree in an Engineering or IT related subject
 IT Literate – Microsoft Office
 Experience of any of the following development languages / tools: C, C++, C#, Java, SQL, SharePoint, CAD

Also, this role is a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract, starting in the Summer 2015, and will be based in Poole.
