YEAR OF MERCY: At the request of Pope Francis a special Jubilee Year of Mercy will begin on Tuesday 8 th
December. As well as being the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, this day marks the
fiftieth anniversary of the conclusion of the Second Vatican Council. A special Mass to inaugurate the year will take place
in Brentwood Cathedral at 7 pm. All are invited.
ADVENT SONGS AND POEMS: An evening of carols, songs and poems will take place in our church on Thursday
10th December from 7.30 pm; an ideal way to take a break and prepare for the final weeks of Advent and for Christmas.
All welcome.
RECONCILIATION SERVICE: Our Advent Reconciliation Service, with priests available to hear Confessions, will
take place on Tuesday 15th December at 7.30 pm in our church. This is an excellent way to begin the Year of Mercy, by
experiencing the sacrament of mercy.
MONDAY LUNCHEON CLUB: Our Luncheon Club in the parish hall got off to a good start last week and will
continue on Mondays from 12.30 until 3.30 pm. A toasted cheese/cheese and onion sandwich with tomato soup will be
available for £2.50 per person, along with tea/coffee or hot chocolate and biscuits. There will be jigsaw puzzles, scrabble,
a book swap, chat and more on offer. All welcome. Does anyone have a wheeled tea trolley they no longer require which
could be used for the Luncheon Club?
FOOD BANK COLLECTION – SUNDAY 13TH DECEMBER: There will be an opportunity to contribute again to the
Harold Hill Foodbank on 13th December so, in the coming week, perhaps we could all remember to pick up an extra item
or two of non-perishable food to assist people in crisis at Christmas time. Peter Feinson has written to say he appreciated
the interest and hospitality he was shown last Sunday when he spoke after the morning Masses.
CONFIRMATION 2016: The programme will begin with an introductory meeting for candidates and parents on Friday
22nd January 2016 at 7 pm. Please complete an application form, which can be found in the porch, and return it to
Fr Adrian by 20th December. Candidates must be in Year 9 or above and should reside in the Parish. Sessions will take
place on Friday evenings from 6.30-7.30 pm, and Confirmation will be conferred by Fr Adrian on Sunday 15th May 2016
at 11 am Mass.
TEA, TOAST & SCONES available in the hall after 9 am Mass today and each Sunday until 13th December.
MULLED WINE & MINCE PIES after 9 am and 11 am Masses on 20th December, the final Sunday before Christmas.
Entrance is free, but any donations will be gratefully received!
PARISH FUNDRAISING RACE NIGHT: Just a reminder for your diaries to keep the evening free on Saturday 23rd
January. Tickets (£10 adults / £5 children) will be on sale in January and will include a £1 initial bet and a light fish and
