O MORE WAR – NEVER AGAIN PAX Christi peace vigil
is taking place on Monday 4th August, 11 am – 1 pm at
St. Francis of Assisi RC Church in Acklam, with a short
peace service at 12 noon. All are welcome. More information

ORLD WAR I COMMEMORATION In early August it
is the Centenary of the entry of the British Empire into
WWI and the Bishop’s Conference of England & Wales have
asked each diocese to mark the event with a
commemorative Mass in our Cathedrals. This is today,
Sunday 3rd August at St. Mary’s Cathedral at our 10 am
Mass. Bishop Terence will preside and we hope as many
people as possible will come to this Mass.

ILGRIMAGE TO THE SHRINE OF OUR LADY OF
MOUNT GRACE to celebrate the Assumption of Our
Lady on Sunday 17th August at 3pm. All are welcome. There
is a list in the porch for those who would like to go by
coach. Please sign up. However the Holy Day of

be at 9.15 am and 7 pm on this day.
CAN YOU HELP?? – Would you be willing to bake for the
Assumption Pilgrimage on the 17th August? Any cakes can
be brought to the Cathedral on Saturday 16th August or on
the morning of Sunday 17th August or taken there directly.
This helps the small group of parishioners who would be
grateful of any help given.

EN PENCE BOWL Donations for the month of July
amounted to £774.30 which included a donation of
£575 from St. Gerard’s Primary School which is amazing.
Total donations to the Holy family Orphanage over the last 2
years and 7 months is £12,333.64 and collections will
continue until the end of December. It is interesting to note
previous causes supported by the parish via the bowl are
Project Peru £14,863.32, CAFOD Connect to Rwanda
£1512.75, and Handicapped Fellowship £1512.75, all
making a grand total of £30,222.76. Thank you so much for
your generosity. Long may it continue.
