The duties and responsibilities of the Operations Manager will develop and grow as the company changes to meet the demands of its customers. To manage the day to day operational aspects on the sites that grade and/or pack UK Produce, ensuring maximum profitability in a legal and safe working environment. 2. Take overall responsibility for the day to day operational aspects of the site. 3. To work alongside the Head of Produce Operations on strategy to ensure that Univeg UK are continually looking at new ways of working and considering new technology to enhance all current processes. 4. Play an active role, alongside the Head of Produce Operations, to set, maintain, and report on the budget for their areas of responsibility. 5. To promote a ‘lean’ culture throughout the Operation Responsibilities Management - ensure operational staff are employed in a timely manner with appropriate skills to enable you to successfully 1 undertake your responsibilities. That at all time staff are aware of their roles and responsibilities they hold within the company and understand their contribution to the company objectives. Costs - you are responsible for the financial performance of your departments. All capital expenditure and maintenance purchases in excess of £1000 must be authorised by the Head of Produce Operations. MHE / Equipment - you will have the overall responsibility for the MHE within your areas ensuring that all maintenance checks are adhered ensuring safety and legal compliance. Areas - you are responsible for all the production, and warehousing on the Spalding Clay Lake Site and for playing an active role in the production and warehousing of third-party sites that are packing UK Produce. Development - to play an active role in the development of both your department and the company as a whole. When opportunities for improvement are identified, you must consider there potential fully and then discuss and assist the Head of Operations with any agreed implementation. Operational tasks You are responsible for the following: Production - for ensuring that all goods are produced in accordance with the requirements of our customers, our company policies and any current legislation. Goods must be produced in a timely manner to allow for delivery at the correct time. Quality - to ensure that the operation team packs to the quality specifications laid down by each customer and work with the quality team to achieve optimum pack out on each production run. Warehouse - for ensuring that all shifts meet all customer delivery targets and in picking all products adhere to the system disciplines and QMS policies. Equipment- alongside the Site/Services/Maintenance Manager ensure that all equipment utilised within the depot is maintained and all associated documentation is completed. Administration - ensuring that all paperwork, record keeping, purchase order and goods received information, and any other information that relates to this area is produced accurately in a timely manner 2 Staff – ensure all staff are aware of their responsibilities and alongside HR train/coach to ensure that at all levels people have the skills to perform their roles and when implementing structures succession planning as at the forefront of all thinking. Reporting – working with the Head of Produce Operations play an active role in implementing/maintaining KPI’s across each of your departments and in conjunction with the Section Manager use them to help gain efficiencies within each relative area. Health & Safety - implement the Company Health & Safety Policy within your areas. You should be aware of your own responsibilities for health and safety and that of your subordinates. The needs of production should never override considerations of health and safety, which should be an intrinsic part of everyday activities in the areas for which you are responsible. Hygiene - ensure that all activities and areas for which you are responsible comply with the Company Hygiene Policy. Other You must perform all other duties as required, consistent with your training and experience.
