This document provides a synthesis of the most recent Swiss Federal Statistical
Office (SFSO) data on the position of women in research but also in science and
technology in general. It also provides the results of a survey (Eurobarometer,
carried out in Switzerland by the Science, politics and social observatory at the
Federal Polytechnic of Lausanne) on the attitude of the public, and of women in
particular, to science and technology.

presentation of recommendations for any measures to be taken in this respect. The
