Based on the above information, what changes, challenges or improvements are being implemented or experienced to impact the effectiveness of the program?

Phase 1 : At this point, the program is not anticipating implementing any changes. The Pocket

Change program is currently running well as designed and meeting the needs of applicants.

Phase 2 : The program has operated as expected. One item of note, the Pocket Change program is providing opportunities for employment for many of the women living at the Waterloo Women’s

Center For Change. Many apply to Pocket Change for bus passes they use to look for employment. During Phase 2, a total of 25 women received bus passes to look for employment.

Share at least one of the “success stories” or accomplishments that a participant has experienced during each reporting period. This must be participant focused and aligned with the intent of this award.

Phase 1: This report’s story involves a client who needed assistance with obtaining a bus pass.

Through the Pocket Change program, a simple fifty dollar bus pass helped our client complete her AA degree at Hawkeye and she now has been accepted into UNI. When contacted by our staff in a follow-up call she could not say enough about just how valuable a bus pass can be for people in the community.

Phase 2:

This report’s story involves a family who was suffering from a horrible infestation of bed bugs. The infestation was so bad that both adults had been asked not come to work due the infestation. Even the church they attend had asked them not to participate until the issue was resolved. They applied to Pocket Change and were approved for $200 to purchase a new bed, which helped them ensure that after the house was treated, the bed bugs would not come back.
