Entries: This competition is open to all skaters who are members in good standing of the US Figure
Skating and will be governed by the rules specified in the 2013-2014 US Figure Skating Rule Book
and errata on the U.S. Figure Skating Web Site. The committee reserves the right to limit the number
of competitors in each flight and in each category, to combine or divide groups, and in events where
fewer than three competitors apply, to eliminate the category.
Deadline: All entries must be postmarked by USPS no later than May 16, 2014. Late entries may be
accepted at the discretion of the Competition Committee. A fee of $25 will be charged for any
accepted late entries.

Refunds: NO refunds after closing date except with a doctor’s note. If you register online, the
processing fee is not refundable for any reason.
Test & Age: As of May 16, 2014, Entry Deadline.
Eligibility: Skaters may enter as many events as they choose and for which the skater is qualified. A
skater may compete at one level higher than the skater’s current test level, but not below. Skaters
may enter EITHER test track free skate program or the well-balance track free skate program but
NOT both during the same non-qualifying competition.
Facilities: The competition will be held at the Knickerbacker Ice Arena, 191 8th Ave., Troy, NY. The
rink measures 185’ X 85’.
Registration: A registration desk will be open throughout the competition. Competitors should
register upon their arrival and submit their music. Skaters should arrive at the rink at least 1 hour
PRIOR to their event’s start time.
ISU Judging System and Critiques: All short programs and free skate programs for Juvenile,
Intermediate, Novice, Junior, and Senior events will be judged according to the ISU Judging System.
Critiques will be offered at the conclusion of the events if time allows.
Planned Program Content Sheet: All skaters competing in the short program and Juvenile through
Senior freestyle events must fill out a Planned Program Content Sheet. These must be returned with
the entry form no later than: May 16, 2014. If you are using EntryEeze use the PPC functionality
offered on the site.
Music: CDs are the only acceptable forms of media. CDs must be clearly marked with name and
event entered. Each CD must have only ONE (1) track on it. In the case of short and long programs,
two (2) separate disks must be used. Any disc with more than one (1) track will NOT be accepted.
Music may NOT be submitted on re-recordable "CD-RW" discs.
Awards: Awards will be presented to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th place finishers and will be presented off
ice at scheduled intervals throughout the competition.
Schedule and Practice Ice: Competition schedules and practice ice will be posted on our web site at
http://www.unclesamsc.com and on Entryeeze. Limited practice ice will be available during the
competition.
Photography/Video: A professional video service and photography service will be available.
Program: Ads may be purchased to wish a skater good luck or to promote a business. Good Luck
“Stars” are available at a cost of $5.00 and will be placed throughout the program.
Dressing Rooms: The dressing rooms are unsupervised. Do not leave valuables unguarded. Neither
USFSC nor the Knickerbacker Ice Arena will be liable for items that are lost or stolen.
Liability: The Uncle Sam Figure Skating Club, the Organizing Committee, U.S. Figure Skating, and
the Knickerbacker Ice Arena undertake no responsibility for damages or injuries suffered by the
skaters or officials. Skaters and/or parents/guardians agree to adhere to U.S. Figure Skating Rule
1600 with respect to injury, risk or accident accruing or connected with participation in this
Competition.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please ensure that your coach is registered in accordance with U.S. Figure
Skating. Coaches who are not properly registered, will NOT be allowed in the coaching area or at the
boards to coach skaters at the competition or during practice ice. In addition, they will NOT be
credentialed as a coach.

Directions to the Knickerbacker Ice Arena:
From points South/East/West:
Take 787 North to the Exit for Route 7 East.
On the Collar City Bridge over the Hudson River, move to the Right lane and take the Troy Downtown Exit.
Take the first right turn after the ramp onto Hutton Street. Proceed to River Street and turn right on River Street (Route
4).
Follow Route 4 North, until 103rd Street.
Turn Right on 103rd Street.
Proceed on 103rd Street until 8th Avenue.
Turn left into the entrance of the Knickerbacker Ice Skating Arena.
From points North:
Take 87 South to the Exit for Route 7 East.

Format choice of the host: Each skater will perform each element when directed by a judge or referee OR
have the option to perform one element at a time in the order listed below (no excessive connecting
steps). Referee driven format examples: all skaters perform first element before moving on to the next and
so on OR each skater performs all of the required elements before moving on to the next skater.

Skaters may enter EITHER the new test track free skate program or the well-balanced track free skate program but NOT
both during the same non-qualifying competition. Competitors will skate to music of their choice, vocal music permitted.
The 6.0 judging system will be used for all Test Track events.
Deductions WILL be made for skaters including technical elements not permitted in the event description.

Jump Challenge
Skaters may not skate below their freestyle level; however, they may skate at their freestyle level or higher. No music
will be played. Events will be skated on half ice. Jumps should be skated in this order. Skaters will be given two
opportunities to perform each jump. The best of the two attempts will be judged. This is not a “mini program.”
Only the stroking and edging necessary to prepare for the jump will be allowed. At the conclusion of the warm-up
period, the first skater will present the first jump twice, then the second jump twice, and then the third jump twice.

Showcase and Showcase Duets
Showcase is a form of skating in which the skater will be judged on the overall performance. Eligibility rules of the
corresponding free skate level will apply to all Showcase events. Showcase numbers are considered entertainment.
Competitors will be judged on the following categories: technical merit, costume, music interpretation,
choreography, and audience appeal. Costumes and props must be appropriate and should not cause danger to the
skater if placed on the ice.
