FUNdamentals Leader Coaching Course Q-Plex July 7-10, 2015 The FUNdamentals Leader training is ideal for teenage skaters looking to get into coaching, as well as parents who are interested in helping out or learning a little bit more about speed skating. It is also a great refresher and source of new ideas for current coaches. This course prepares coaches to work as an assistant coach with skaters in the Active Start, FUNdamentals & Learning to Train stages of development with skaters in both the Learn to Skate and Learn to Speed Skate programs. Class time will be 7:30-8:30 am Tuesday to Friday during the “Skate Into Summer” Camp. Morning sessions will also include video of “Learn to speed skate” groups to show elements needing correction as well as corrective procedures to try and fix those errors. Every participant will get 1 hour of practical on-ice training each day, as well hands on experience in detection and correction. The FUNdamental Leader coaches will be assisting the group 3 lead coach each day and will have the course Instructor on the ice as a session mentor as well. This is an optional, bonus, opportunity for those skaters, 14 and up, who are in the advanced “Skate Into Summer” training group. It is also offered to other speed skaters, coaches and parents from any other clubs, whether they are enrolled in the camp or not. Minimum Age: 14 years Time requirement: 4 - 1 hour sessions each morning July 7 – 10th 4 - 1 hour on ice sessions to assist with Group 3 and the Mini –Meet.
