Please note that this competition is being marked on the IJS judging system. All
competitors must demonstrate an element from each of the three sections in their
category; they may be performed in any order.
Category criteria: Crystal

Achieved Level 8 Skate UK working towards Bronze free.
1) A two foot or a 1 foot spin (min 2 revolutions)
2) Drag with skating leg parallel to the ice
3) 3- jump
Category criteria: Dendrite

Achieved Bronze free working towards Silver free
1) Upright spin (min 3 revolutions)
2) Forward spiral on a curve - knee above hip height (min 2 seconds)
3) Salchow or a toeloop
Category criteria: Stellar

Achieved Silver working towards Gold free
1) Any basic position spin – no variation or feature (min 4 revolutions)
2) Forward spiral on a curve - knee above hip height this may be supported or unsupported
-variations allowed. (min 3 seconds)
3) Salchow, toeloop or a loop jump
Category criteria: Diamond
 Achieved Skate UK Star Gold free - working towards Nisa level 1 (Must not hold any
Nisa level tests)
1) Any basic position spin – variations allowed (min 4 revolutions)
2) Forward or backward spiral on a curve - supported or unsupported - variations allowed.
(min 4 seconds)
3) Salchow, toeloop or a loop jump

Competition Criteria & Additional Information













Any elements that are not within the criteria for your category will not be scored.
All competitors will get a group warm-up of 1.5 minutes and will have full use of the ice
during performance.
All competitors will have a maximum of 30 seconds to complete their elements. If they fail
to do so a time penalty will be applied.
Categories may be sub divided at the discretion of the club committee.
The draw will be done at random and made available via the club notice board on Pad 1
and the website no later than a week before the event.
Please notify the competition secretary of any tests passed prior to the closing date.
All competitors need to have signed in by 7.15 pm on the day of the competition.
Please note that no video or photography will be permitted during this event.
Skaters are not required to provide music. Background music will be played at the discretion
of the organisers.
Dress Code - smart tight training wear with hair tied back and neatly presented. Girls do
not need to wear a dress. No stage make-up or theatrical costumes.
The Medal Ceremony will take place off ice shortly after the competition.
Entrants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. If the competition is full a
refund of the competition fees and DVD fees will be reimbursed shortly after the closing
date. Please note club membership will not be refunded.
Club membership offers many benefits, including a members-only session on Tuesday
evenings 7.30-9.00 pm. Various competitions are held throughout the year, including Spin
Spiral Jump and a Closed IJS Beginner to Level 4 competition, the next one of which will be
held on Sunday 10th April 2016. There is also the iSSA Christmas party and eligibility to skate
in inter-rink dance and free competitions.
This is a great opportunity for skaters to experience their first competition under the IJS
marking system. All skaters will receive a PDF of their scores giving them feedback from
official NISA judges. We wish all skaters good luck and hope they enjoy their first
competitive experience.
