Sarah Mutch Biography Sarah was born in Columbus, Mississippi and began her dance training at Ballet Columbus under Cindy McCaskill at the age of five. She continued to progress under Anne Wilson at Ballet Columbus, Leigh Murphree at Prairie Oak Christian School of the Arts, and Cynthia Williams at Dance Divine. At the age of 16, she began seeking additional training, attending an International Ballet Competition master class in 2008, a Ballet Magnificat! two-day workshop in 2009, and the Ballet Magnificat! Summer Dance Intensive in 2010 and 2011. In 2010, as a freshman at Mississippi University for Women, Sarah felt the Lord telling her to pursue dance more seriously as a career. After much prayer, she transferred to the University of Alabama as a dance major in the fall of 2011. For the past three years she studied ballet and modern dance under Sarah M. Barry, Rita Snyder, and Qianping Guo. She has also studied jazz, choreography, teaching styles, anatomy for dance, lighting and sound, and dance history. Sarah has had the opportunity to perform with Alabama Repertory Dance Theatre, Dance Alabama!, and Tuscaloosa Community Dancers, and her choreography has been featured in Dance Alabama! and The Dance Collection. Additionally, during the summers of 2012 and 2013, Sarah was selected by the university faculty as a scholarship recipient and counselor for the American Ballet Theatre Summer Intensive in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. In May of 2014, Sarah graduated with honors and received her BA in dance with a minor in theatre. While attending UA, Sarah’s passion for teaching was solidified. She has taught at Oakdale Elementary School and Riverwood Classical School in Tuscaloosa, as well as Ballet Columbus and the Frank P. Phillips YMCA when back home in Columbus. This is her third summer teaching dance camps at the Y, and she is excited for what God has in store for her future. Sarah considers it an honor and a privilege to instill values in and spark the imaginations of children through dance. She believes her passion for dance and fitness instruction is given by God and plans to teach as long as the Lord sees fit.
