Change of Name or Address
Students are required to notify the Student Enquiry
Service, Registrar’s Office, in writing of any change in

These scholarships are available to full-time students
enrolled in a Bachelor degree undertaking a coherent

ARC National Key Centre for
Geochemical Evolution and
Metallogeny of Continents Bachelor
Honours Scholarship
Six scholarships are available for students enrolled in an
honours degree in the Department of Physical
Geography, Macquarie University or in the Department
of Geology, Australian National University and undertak­
ing a program of study and research in the area of geo­
chemical evolution and metallogeny of continents. The
scholarships are valued up to a maximum of $2500 per
candidate. Shared or partial scholarships may be offered.

Bachelor of Science Diploma of Education and who fol­
low a particular study pattern.
The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of UAI,
with some scholarships reserved for students who have

Biology Summer Research Experience
Scholarships
These scholarships are available on academic merit to
students enrolled in biology undergraduate programs.
The purpose of the scholarships is to provide projectbased work experience opportunities during the summer
vacation. The scholarships are valued at $275 per week
for two to ten weeks depending on the duration of the
work experience project.

This scholarship is available to students enrolling in the

Communication Sciences
Scholarships
Up to seven scholarships are available to commencing
undergraduates in the first year of a Bachelor degree pro­
gram leading to a coherent study in any discipline within
the Division of Information and Communication
Sciences. The degrees included are the BeBus,
BTech(Optoel), BTech(Tele), BE, BCompSci, BIT, BSc
in Astronomy and Astrophysics, BSc in Advanced Maths,
BBA BIT, BCom-Acturial Studies with the BSc in
Computing, BA or BSc in the Division of Information
and Communication Sciences.
Bachelor of Science Teaching
Scholarships
The scholarships are available on academic merit to stu­
dents who achieve a UAI of 95 or greater. Up to five of
the scholarships are valued at $2500 per annum and may
be renewed for up to a further two years subject to satis­
factory progress. One scholarship will be reserved for
Indigenous applicants. Up to two scholarships are valued
at $5000 per annum for applicants enrolling in the BIT or
BE degrees and may be renewed for up to a further two
years subject to satisfactory progress.

Scholarships
Commonwealth Learning Scholarships
The Commonwealth Learning Scholarships are part of
the Commonwealth Government’s Higher Education
Reforms passed in December 2003. Their goal is to
increase participation of students from low socio-economic and rural backgrounds by providing them with
financial assistance. Two levels of scholarships are avail­
able ($2000 and $4000 a year) and renewal is contingent
on a grade point average of 2.0.

Doris Wallent Scholarships in
Mathematics
One scholarship will be awarded for excellence in math­
ematics in the NSW/ACT Higher School Certificate to a
first year student enrolled in the units MATH132 and
MATH133 in 2005. Preference will be given to female
candidates.

Dragan Tosich Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is available to students with an interest
in Serbian Studies and who can show cause for financial
support. The scholarship is valued at $650 per annum.

Fred Roberts Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is available to a student who has com­
pleted the requirements for the award of the Advanced
Diploma in Community Management. To be eligible, the
student must show excellence in the study and practice of
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community
Management as well as having been accepted into anoth­
er course at Macquarie University. The scholarship is val­
ued at $1000 and is awarded on a yearly basis.

Memorial
Actuarial
These scholarships are available to students who are
enrolled in or are intending to enrol in the Bachelor of
Commerce – Actuarial Studies program or a combined
actuarial studies program. They are available to both high
school leavers and continuing Macquarie University stu­
dents. Candidates must be permanent residents of
Australia. The scholarships are awarded based on acade­
mic merit, financial need and the personal circumstances
of the applicant. The scholarships are tenable for one year
and valued at $2500.
Applicants who already hold any other scholarship or
award, other than Youth Allowance, will only be eligible
to receive the scholarship with the permission of the
donor. Intending applicants who already hold another
scholarship or award may still apply, and should specify
all the details of the scholarship or award held.

Honours Scholarships – Accounting,
Finance and Economics
The Division of Economic and Financial Studies offers
up to three Honours Scholarships per year in the areas of
Accounting and Finance, and Economics. The scholar­
ships are awarded to full-time students on the basis of
academic merit in their Bachelor degree program. The
standard of academic achievement is measured by the
student’s grade point average (or equivalent). To be eligi­
ble students must be accepted into either the Honours
program in the Department of Accounting and Finance or
the Honours Degree of Bachelor of Economics. The
scholarships are for full-time enrolment in a one-year
program and are not renewable. The scholarships are val­
ued at $7,500 each.

This scholarship is available to full-time students under­

Scholarships
These scholarships are available to students of Aboriginal
and Torres Strait Islander descent. The scholarships pro­
vide a fully funded place in Macquarie University
College Housing to successful applicants for one year.

renewed on the basis of satisfactory academic progress.

Macquarie University Honours
Scholarships
These scholarships are awarded to students commencing
an honours program. Selection is based on academic
merit including overall grade point average, grade point
average at 300-level, as well as the number of prizes
awarded during undergraduate study at Macquarie
University. Up to four scholarships will be available in
each College, valued at $5,000 for one year for a fulltime candidate, and $2,500 per year over two years for a
part-time candidate.
Please note: The scholarships cannot be held in conjunc­
tion with another similar award. No application form is
necessary. Suitable candidates applying for an Honours
program may be recommended by their Division of
Registration.
Macquarie University Human
Geography Bachelor Honours
Scholarship
This scholarship is available to students undertaking the
honours program in human geography and is valued at up
to $2000.

Macquarie University Innovation
Scholarships
These scholarships will be available for students who
apply for the first time in 2004 for a place through the
Universities Admissions Centre. An Innovation scholar­
ship may be offered to students who are obtaining a 2004
Australian Year 12 Qualification. The scholarships will
be distributed evenly across all programs of study.

Students need to be Australian citizens or permanent res­
idents to receive this scholarship. Maximum and mini­
mum UAI may vary across each Macquarie Academic
Division based on the quantity and quality of applica­
tions. The range of UAI that will be considered are from
99.49 to approximately 98.50. The scholarships are val­
ued at $2500 and are tenable for the first year of study
only. There is no application form, all students who apply
through UAC will be considered.

Macquarie University Super Innovation
Scholarships
These scholarships will be available for students who
apply for the first time in 2004 for a place through the
Universities Admissions Centre. A Super Innovation
scholarship will be offered to all students who are obtain­
ing a 2004 Australian Year 12 Qualification, and who
achieve a Universities Admissions Index (UAI) of 99.5 or
above. Students need to be Australian citizens or perma­
nent residents to be eligible for this scholarship. The
scholarships are valued at $2500 for each year of the stu­
dents’ program of study subject to maintaining an overall
grade point average of 3.5 and higher. There is no appli­
cation form, all students who apply through UAC will be
considered.

Sports Scholarships
In 2004, 61 athletes from 18 sports were awarded Sport
Scholarships. In 2005, Macquarie University Sports
Association (MUSA) will award Sports Scholarships to
new and continuing Macquarie University students.
Sports Scholarships are awarded on the basis of sporting
excellence, commitment to represent the University at
university sport competitions and sporting club involve­
ment. Scholarships are valued up to $2,500 per annum
which includes the following benefits: financial assis­
tance for educational or sporting expenses, academic
counselling and liaison, personal development work­
shops and tutorials, Sport and Leisure Centre Fitness
Card membership and access to additional funding to
compete in state, national and international sporting
events.

Ted O’Keeffe Scholarship
The Ted O’Keeffe scholarship is the most prestigious
scholarship awarded by the Macquarie University Sports

in their second year of study or beyond proceeding to a
degree or diploma at an undergraduate or postgraduate
