By making use of resources in its Non-UGC Reserves (Departmental), the Department of
Applied Social Studies has agreed to establish a number of prizes annually in City University of Hong Kong with effect from the academic year 2001/2002.
1.
The Prizes shall be known as the "Bachelor of Social Sciences Foundation Courses
Prizes".
2.
There shall be four awards with each valued at HK$500.
3.
The awardees shall be full-time year one Bachelor of Social Sciences students who have obtained the highest mark with grade A or above in any of the following four common foundation courses:
• Basic Psychology (Semester A)
• Basic Sociology (Semester A)
• Social Statistics and Research Methods (Semester A)
• Social Welfares Services, Polices and Issues (Semester B)
4.
A student shall be allowed to receive more than one prizes if he/she performs outstandingly in more than one foundation courses.
5.
Confirmation will be sought from the Department of Applied Social Studies whether or not the scholarships shall be continued for the following academic year.

Kong with effect from the academic year 2002/2003.
1.
The Prize shall be known as the "Bachelor of Social Sciences Outstanding Student
Prize".
2.
There shall be one award and the value of the award shall be HK$1,000.
3.
The Prize shall be awarded to a full-time year two Bachelor of Social Sciences student who has achieved outstanding academic results in the previous academic year. The recipient should also have demonstrated outstanding personal qualities and have proven record of involvement in extra-curricular activities and/or community services.
4.
The Prize shall be open for competition. Nominations either from fellow students,
BSocSc Foundation Year Team, academic staff or self-nominations shall reach the Head of the Department by end of September of the academic year.
5.
Confirmation will be sought from the Department of Applied Social Studies whether or not the scholarships shall be continued for the following academic year.
