What Are Care Packages?
A box of toys and fun mailed to the child either shortly after they are first diagnosed with cancer or during a
difficult stretch of treatment.
• Our program serves toddlers through high school age kids - if you are being treated on a pediatric oncology
floor, you can get a care package!
General Guidelines:

Please keep in mind that the kids receiving this package are very often confined to a
hospital bed or to being inside while at home.
We cannot use/send any video games rated Mature (M) or above
We discourage things that are messy, require a big work area or lots of additional
supplies, or would be too loud/disruptive for use indoors.
Our biggest need is always for kids 12 and older – GIFT CARDS are the number one
most wished for item and it is very hard to keep them in stock!
We NEED:

Gift cards! ANY store that you think our kids would like as well - especially
clothing /restaurant chains (ex. Olive Garden, Applebee’s, Outback)/ iTunes /
Walmart / Target / Amazon / Toys R Us / Redbox / Barnes & Noble / Game Stop
Board Games – for multiple players and all ages. Classics or Memory games are great!
NEW books for all ages and reading levels – ‘I SPY’ books are great for all ages.
Movies and CDs for all ages – think popular artists Bruno Mars, Luke Bryan,
Puzzles – Little ones (<20 pieces) to medium size (200-300 pieces) are easy to mail and
well received.
Sports Gear like baseballs/gloves, frisbees, jump ropes, nerf footballs, something small
that can fit in a package! Baltimore Ravens or Orioles gear is especially needed for local
families.
Crafts kits for all ages to make head bands, bracelets, paint, crochet, etc.
Toy train and car sets are very popular with little boys and are a great size to mail
Lego’s – the small and mid-size box sets are best
Star Wars action figures / toys
Toy Story merchandise – Anything to do with the Pixar movie series!
SpongeBob SquarePants – Anything from the DVDs to coloring books, puzzles, stuffed
animals, or playsets
Disney anything! We get requests for all the major characters: Mickey, Minnie, Pluto,
etc! The Disney Princesses are very popular as well. Frozen is super popular right now too!
Toys for toddlers under 3 years of age. Must say “appropriate for under 3 years old” on box.

WISH LIST
To maintain and operate the Learning Center we are always looking for a variety of items. We've put together
a list of things that we still need. Please do not view this as exhaustive by any means: if you see something we
should add (or you have!) please contact Sharon. Due to the level of cleanliness we must maintain at the center,
please consider that most items (kitchen, rec room, classroom supplies etc.) need to be new or very near new

Amtrak Points or Air Miles
We are always looking for coach-class tickets to and from NYC. If you have extra Amtrak Rewards points that
you could turn into a free ticket (even one-way helps) they would be put to great use in a silent / live auction
package! Air miles are always appreciated to help families with travel costs for loved ones to visit.
