Commercial Inspection 408.396.5512 Trade Topics February 2011 Current restroom costs on a 'Stand Alone' basis A common budgeting request we receive from clients who are remodeling, is that of restroom costs. Often new owners or tenants find restrooms in existing buildings to be inadequate for their number of employees or far from complying with the architectural standards of the ADA. In the samples shown below I am presenting restroom construction on a 'stand alone' basis - that is the restroom(s) themselves with no or little other work. In these samples the basic assumptions are: Construction is take place in a single story building, water and underground waste are within 10 feet of the new restroom(s), electrical service is nearby and demolition of existing rooms is not required. Plans and Permit costs are excluded. The costs are presented in a 'rule of thumb context, actual cost will vary depending on number of restrooms installed, difficulty factors and market forces at time of bid. These restroom models have finishes best described as 'economy grade' . Class A buildings will require a higher level of finishes.
