Intellij IDEA 12
In version 12 use the right-hand pane of the opening window to create a new project.
When created a second window will open and in the left-hand pane right-click on src of the project
to create a new java class.
Give this class a name and hit OK.
The programs template will appear in the right-hand pane
You can begin to start editing and running your program.
All other settings will have been prepared for you.
