Thanksgiving Sharing—November 16
March to the Manger
Please bring your donation of non Sunday, December 7, 9:45-10:45 am
-perishable food items to Sunday
School to help feed Houston’s
hungry. Donations will be distributed
by the CCSC.
Items needed: cereal, peanut
butter, pasta, tuna, canned goods,
packages of beans & rice, baby food
and hygiene items.
We invite our Nursery families to participate with the children in
our 2s-5th grade Sunday School classes. The children are asked
to bring a new unwrapped toy to donate to a child in need.
Donations for children of all ages will benefit the Jingle Bell
Express program at CCSC. Children in 3s – 5th grade will travel to
the Children’s Chapel to present their gifts to baby Jesus.
Did you know?
Since 2000, Christian Community Service Center (CCSC) has
maintained a Community Garden, now located on the campus
of St. Luke's UMC - Gethsemane Campus, to provide fresh fruits
and vegetables for our hungry clients.
In 2011, the Garden at Gethsemane produced over 4,000
pounds of fresh produce. Approximately 12 volunteers regularly Tickets are $10/adult & $5/child
plant, prune and harvest wonderful fruits and vegetables. These Menu: Scrambled eggs, bacon, roasted potatoes, tortillas,
nutrient-rich, organic goodies are then provided to both
cinnamon rolls, coffee, tea and juice.

2 years—Alana Martinez (Infants)
Mary and Joseph (played by a St.
Luke’s family), reenact their search for
shelter by knocking at the doors of the
inns (classrooms). The children
participate by dressing in the costumes
provided, and decorating their ‘inn’. At the end of the Sunday
School hour, classes visit the Nativity and enjoy the breaking of a
star-shaped pinata.
