This week, in English, the children have converted their short oral story into writing. In particular they focussed on using different sentence types (compound, complex and short, impact) and editing their work to continuously improve it. They used word processing software to type up their story in various fonts and illustrate appropriately, in order to create a class book of short stories! In Maths, they have been revising written methods of division and mental maths strategies. For Topic, they have learnt about reasons for Vikings leaving their homeland in longships. For the class longship, they have designed a figure head, painted photos of themselves to change into Viking warriors and painted Viking shields designed by them. In Science they finished drawing their classification key to organise different living organisms and worked through online classification keys. They also continued their Samba Drumming and were visited by Daventry District Council, who talked about what they do!
