Promoting art and art education in the community.
“I dream of painting and then I paint my dream.” - Vincent Van Gogh
KLEIN’S KORNER
Well the show is over, and thanks to
many of you, it finished with rave reviews. It is still being talked about in
the Las Vegas art community with
compliments about the artwork, the
gallery, and everything related to the
opening! And from our judge, Ed Hoag— “Well done!”
But now is not the time to rest on our laurels. There
are many new events and features coming (see the
newsletter) which will require even more participation by
you, our members, in the coming days and weeks.
We are in need of volunteers to man the gallery, even
if you are not showing. One day, or even a half day per
month will be of great help. Bring your painting materials
and make it a painting day, we encourage that. We also
need volunteers with computer skills to help with the
gallery cards and featured artist invitations.
As important, however, is your feedback. Let us know
how you feel about the new newsletter for example.
What are your expectations? How can we better meet
your needs? Without your input we can’t know. Looking
forward to hearing from you...
ED KLEIN, President
DISPLAY YOUR ARTWORK
Now is a great time to sign up for gallery space and put
your art on display from April through June! We expect
to bring more shoppers to the gallery with our new signage and planned activities during Henderson’s Heritage
Day Parade in April, the Henderson Art Festival in May,
promoted featured artist events, and more!
If you haven't shown before, do it now! Fees for the
2nd quarter are $35 per full panel and $20 per half panel.
Call Ed Klein at the Gallery to RSVP: (702) 260-0300

JUDI MOREO
April Featured Artist
City Lights Gallery is hosting a Meet the Artist Reception for Judi Moreo on Sunday, April 13, from 1- 4 p.m.
Come meet Judi and see her newest collection of watercolor and acrylic paintings.
Judi is an internationally known public speaker
and author who began to discover her talent as a watercolor artist after her doctor diagnosed her with cancer
and advised her to find an outlet for her stress.
Under the tutelage of Ed Klein at the City Lights
Gallery, Judi has created a collection of paintings which
she calls her “Exploration of Life.” After only 3 years of
training, her paintings appear in private collections in
the US, Canada, and Africa and most of her paintings
have been reproduced into greeting cards. This year
she has expanded into acrylic painting by studying with
acclaimed wildlife artist, Jeff Tift. Paintings of both mediums will be displayed. For more information, call City
Lights Artists’ Co-op Gallery at (702) 260-0300.
RECAP OF JURIED SHOW
The Artist Reception went extremely well on March 9th.
There were 127 entries enjoyed by an overflow crowd!
This was the largest juried show at the Gallery, and possibly in Nevada! Awards were presented in the carport
area. A show committee will design a reservation process with deposit for our October Juried Show. A sound
system and other improvements are being considered.
Watch our web site, citylightsartgallery.com and this
newsletter for the “Call For Artists” details.
SEND YOUR LOVE
Elton Blair— It's with great sorrow, we share that Elton

WHO IS TOMMY TUCKER?
 New Gallery brochures! Please
Tom Domino AKA Tommy Tucker
volunteer to place them in: banks,
hotels, public buildings, senior centers, and art stores. Can you help?
started drawing at age 7, inspired by
seeing his uncle draw a ship from a magazine cover. His self-training started with
an oil painting at age 12. Tom says, “I
also created an exact replica of our Parish church made out of 2500 ice cream
sticks, found on the playground during
recess. My teachers, siblings, and parents were amazed.”
In upstate NY, Tom was mentored by
the famous American Hudson Valley
Artists John F. Gould and Tom Beecham.
He attended Herron School of Art in Indianapolis. In summer 1969, Tom received
a full scholarship for Yale Summer School
of Music and Art-- one of 75 students
who attended. After getting his BFA from
Herron, he went to USC for his MFA with
a full teaching assistantship. He received
the Kate and Cole Porter Scholarship in
1971. He said, “At USC, I meet my future
wife, Clarisa, one of my undergraduate
drawing class students. After graduation, we moved back to upstate NY
where I had my own Sign Shop.”
Tom and Clarisa had a son, Ben, and
daughter, Claire. Claire was born with
Cystic Fibrosis. For better medical care,
the family moved back to California. Tom
worked as a sign writer for 31 years in all
the major Hollywood Studios. He was
heavily involved in The Cystic Fibrosis
Foundation and The California Jaycees to
help raise money for research for a cure.
He learned to network and promote
fund raising projects.
Tom has worked in oil, acrylic, watercolor, and drawing. He prefers acrylic
because it dries fast and can be used like
oil, layered and applied heavy with lots
of paint, or smooth and soft. He noted, “I
like detailed drawing first, then letting
pencil show through the paint, if I want.”
As an Art student he was commissioned to do a 30’ long mural for the
new Law School of Indiana U. USC commissioned a 60’mural for their new Law
School. Tom recalled, “I was involved in
the Malibu Artist’s Association, and
showed my work at Pepperdine University. My Painting, “Claire,” was in a Juried
Show at Topanga Canyon Gallery in
2012, and my work was also shown in
Glendale, CA 2010-2012. Presently my

April 17th is “Going to Market Day!”
On Thurs. April 17, from 10 to 4pm,
City Lights is going to the Farmers
Market on Water St. Volunteers are
needed to man the table/tent that
day, to display art, give out raffle
tickets for an Aileen Dike piece, create interest for the Gallery Celebration on April 26th, and pass out brochures. Volunteer– join the fun!
CITY LIGHTS CELEBRATES! 4/26
This is another opportunity to show
off our refurbished gallery. Media
and other key contacts will be invited. Please bring your friends and
family to enjoy our fresh Qtr-2 exhibit as well as the Henderson Heritage Day Parade! With a new crowd
of parade spectators and our new
Gallery signs pointing to us, we expect brisk pedestrian traffic at the
Gallery. Volunteer to help set up
outdoor tents, demo your skills and
you'll have prime display space/
selling opportunities for the day!
City Lights & Art Festival
The Art Festival of Henderson is on
Mother's Day weekend and we're participating in a big way! We will continue
to offer the opportunity to buy booth
space in the convention center. With
only 14 or 15 spaces available, contact
Ed Klein for more information and/or to
RSVP. With crowds of 20,000 or more,
we plan to set up tents on Army St for
demos and displays. Once again, our
new signs, festival announcers, artist
demos and more should lure a nice
group of potential buyers into the gallery. Please volunteer your talents!
