Lecturer School of Criminology and Criminal Justice Job #11480 The School of Criminology and Criminal Justice (SCCJ) invites applications for a lecturer to begin August 18, 2016 on ASU’s West Campus. Lecturer positions are full-­‐time, non-­‐tenure-­‐track faculty appointments to teach four courses per semester during the academic year. The College of Public Service & Community Solutions’ SCCJ is a nationally recognized leader in higher education and is highly regarded for its distinguished faculty and research productivity. The SCCJ offers undergraduate, masters, and doctoral degrees, as well as several certificate programs. The SCCJ is conveniently located on the ASU Downtown Phoenix campus in the heart of the sixth largest city in the United States. In addition, the SCCJ offers upper-­‐division courses in Yuma and Lake Havasu City, AZ, which are designed to allow students who already hold an associate’s degree to complete the Bachelor of Science degree by taking in-­‐person classes. The position currently under recruitment is for a faculty member to anchor a similar baccalaureate-­‐degree completion program at ASU’s West Campus in Glendale, AZ. Required Minimum Qualifications: • a master’s degree in criminal justice, criminology, or a related field from a regionally-­‐accredited university; • the demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate-­‐level courses in criminological theory, statistics, and research methods to SCCJ majors, as well as courses in the applicant’s substantive area(s) of expertise; • evidence of teaching effectiveness; • the ability to work independently with minimal supervision; and • a demonstrated commitment to and/or expertise in educating a diverse student population. Desired Qualifications: • a Ph.D. in criminology and criminal justice or a related field; • experience working in one of the justice professions; and • at least one year of experience teaching in-­‐person courses at the baccalaureate level. Note: The J.D. is not a sufficient qualification for this position. However, those holding a J.D. from an ABA-­‐accredited law school in addition to an earned master’s or doctoral degree in criminology and criminal justice (or a closely-­‐related field) are strongly encouraged to apply.
