Introduction to IHIF
Each year the most influential players
in the international hotel industry
meet in Berlin for three days.
Over 2,000 people attend the
International Hotel Investment Forum
(IHIF), making this the largest and
most senior gathering of industry
professionals from all areas of the
industry. The IHIF is the most global
industry gathering with people coming
from over 70 countries
IHIF consists of a variety of unrivalled
networking events, an outstanding
educational programme and an

within our industry use IHIF as an
important platform from which to do
business. For companies that want to
get into the lucrative hotel investment
business, IHIF is an invaluable
introduction to the industry.
WHO ATTENDS?
Over 2,000 decision-makers from 70 countries attend IHIF. What sets IHIF apart is the
seniority of the attendees; the audience is made-up of a very influential group of global
decision-makers. The event is attended each year by key groups who are critical to our
industry including: over 250 hotel owners and investors, nearly every global hotel chain
CEO and an increasing number of government and tourism ministers. Of equal importance
is the very wide cross-section of the industry that the audience represents.
All areas of the industry are present. You should attend if you have an interest in doing
business with any of the following:

WHY ATTEND?
IHIF enables you to gain valuable information, take part in discussions, make contacts and
learn about new business opportunities. You’ll meet people from all areas of the industry
from all across the world. In just three days, you can do potentially more business than a
whole years worth of sales calls. Even simply attending IHIF and having your name appear
on the attendee list will set you apart as a company or individual who is important to the
industry.
ASIA
With the help of an advisory board, the IHIF programme is formed. Over the three days
more than 180 speakers will take part, all chosen because they are experts in their field
and have something important to say. Through keynote presentations, panel discussions
and NEW focused In-the-Round discussions, the speakers will share their knowledge and
experience and help you understand more about the hospitality industry and, importantly,
where opportunities for development lie globally. However, at IHIF it’s not just about
hearing from the experts but about getting discussion going, and, through a series of new
‘In-the-Round’ sessions, you will have the opportunity to take part and have your say.

Gala Networking Reception
Tuesday 3 March 19:00 – 21:00
Right next to the Chancellor’s office, only
a stone’s throw away from Berlin’s political
circus, is a unique venue, a marquee theatre
considered to be one of Berlin’s most
exceptional event locations. IHIF delegates are
invited to a fun evening at this theatrical venue
which promises to amaze and amuse, and of
course provide a great networking opportunity.
This is the best event globally.
Over the three days I meet
around fifteen good business
prospects every day, which
would take me a month if it
wasn’t for this event, so it is
very important to my business.

NEW FO R T H I S Y E A R
Wednesday 4 March 09:15 – 11:00
Discussion and debate are
key to IHIF, and it’s not
just about hearing from
the experts but about
getting discussions
going. These new ‘In-theRound’ sessions, which will replace
the general session on Wednesday
morning, will be a number of smaller,
more informative and intimate
discussions on detailed and specialised
topics. Sessions will give all attendees
the chance to take part and share
ideas, with a strong focus on swapping
business cards and making invaluable
long-terms contacts.
Young Leader Award 2015
IHIF is very pleased to once again recognise our future
industry leaders through the Young Leader Award, held in
conjunction with the International Society of Hospitality
Consultants (ISHC). We are now accepting nominations for
the Young Leader Award 2015.
For requirements and to nominate a candidate please visit:
berlinconference.com/youngleader.
The deadline for nominations is 31 January 2015.
The award will be presented to the winner at the IHIF on Tuesday 3 March.
Networking can begin
before you even get to
the conference.
IHIF
At IHIF we use a fantastic
CONTACT
SYSTEM
pre-event contact system
that enables you to begin
networking and arrange
valuable meetings before you arrive.
The system will go live in January,
and registered delegates will receive
details of how to use it. It allows you to:
• See who’s coming to IHIF • Search
for delegates by their (and your)
business interests • View personalised
recommendations of other attendees
with matching interests • Communicate
with attendees and sponsoring
companies securely • Plan your
itinerary from the sessions list and
networking events • Plan one-to-one
meetings at the event • Access your
profile through the IHIF website or
mobile device.
Monday 2 March 17:30 -18:30
Make more contacts in an hour than a
whole year’s worth of road trips! Meet,
exchange business cards and then
move on to the next person. It’s a great
way to start your three days in Berlin.
Please remember to bring lots of
business cards if you wish to take part
in this session.

COLLIDING MEGATRENDS: INNOVATION, DISRUPTION AND SHARING – THE CHALLENGE OF CHANGE
The megatrends are the big forces at play that have the potential to impact all our lives over the next decade. But what do they
mean for how we use hotels? The hotel industry has already seen its fair share of disruption, from OTAs to review websites
to now a rapidly growing sharing economy. Our keynote speakers will lay out how colliding megatrends are posing both
unprecedented risks of disruption and unique opportunities for innovation over the next decade.

IHIF STUDENT CHALLENGE – HOW CAN HOTEL COMPANIES BEST COPE WITH THE RISE OF THE SHARING
ECONOMY?
This year’s IHIF Student Challenge takes on what many consider to be one of the most important challenges/opportunities
for hotel companies: The rise of the sharing economy and the growing popularity of new vendors of alternative transient
accommodations such as Airbnb, HomeAway, VRBO and HouseTrip. Student teams are expected to “be the voice of the next
generation,” and are thus expected to not only provide thoughtful, analytical and well-reasoned arguments, but to approach and
solve the challenge with an appropriate amount of creative and innovative thinking.

THE HOTEL IN 2020 - GOING FROM BLAND TO AFFECTIVE HOSPITALITY – WHAT ARE THE FUTURE VALUE
DRIVERS?
The hotel product throughout all segments is mostly the same. So, what will stimulate guests (and investors) to make a decision
for a certain brand or product? Does the hospitality market know how to sustainably attract guests, build up relations and
stimulate emotions, or did this market already unlearn? What are the tangible and intangible factors? Do the operators really
know how their brands are recognised by different clients, cultures, generations, societies etc.? Millennials, emerging markets,
green hotels, super-personalisation, the sharing economy, smart mobile touch points. What are the guests looking for and can

NEW TO IHIF
Discussion and debate are key to The International Hotel Investment Forum (IHIF). These new ‘In-the-Round’ sessions are a
series of more intimate and informative discussions that will focus on specialised topics. Each session will be led by one or
two industry experts who will prepare information to share with the delegates with the aim of delivering valuable content.
They will then guide the discussion and answer questions. This is a great opportunity to not only hear from experts and to learn
about areas into which your business can grow, but also to be actively involved in valuable discussion. Looking at geographical
destinations that are offering fantastic developmental opportunities will be a focus of many of these sessions.
