The University of Texas at Austin is currently recruiting a position in the Study Abroad Office coordinating short-term faculty-led programs.

Qualifications:

Purpose of position To manage a portfolio of credit-bearing faculty-led study abroad programs in multiple countries. Responsibilities include budget preparation; promotion; faculty support; evaluations; participant screening, selection, pre-departure preparation; coordination with overseas partners; and associated administrative tasks.

Essential functions Program Development: Manage portfolio of customized faculty-led programs in multiple countries. Work directly with assigned faculty to develop and implement programs. Coordinate with key academic advisors, faculty, and departments. Work closely with overseas partners to research/coordinate site logistics. Develop program policy as part of a team. Organize site visits to programs; campus visits for partners. Keep abreast of country specific health and safety preparations. Coordinate evaluations. Faculty Support: Review/evaluate new program proposals. Implement faculty workshops. Advise faculty on proposing a program, recruitment/outreach, application review, predeparture orientation, on-site logistics, UT Austin policies, emergency management, and financial management of programs. Correspond with faculty regarding all aspects of programs. Set up faculty logistics. Organize pre-program site visits. Work collaboratively on post-program evaluation. Manage faculty incidents abroad. Student Advising and Outreach: Recruit, advise, select, and orient students for assigned programs and provide appropriate academic and program advising. Develop marketing materials and presentations. Develop and manage pre-departure orientation presentations and materials. Manage student incidents abroad. Review student petitions. Facilitate collection of predeparture forms. Administrative/Other: Serve as a resource for faculty and staff and as a liaison to other offices regarding study abroad programs and policies. Ensure completion of administrative processes associated with the functions above, either through supervision of student workers or directly. Participate in staff meetings, special projects and committees, including office-wide strategic planning and policy development. Manage emergencies in collaboration with the International Risk Analyst.

Required qualifications Demonstration in application materials and interview of the following competencies, typically acquired through a

Bachelors degree and five years of relevant experience or a Masters degree and three years of relevant experience: Effective problem solving skills and good decision quality; results-oriented; strong organizational abilities; the ability to manage multiple priorities and effectively prioritize; a customer focus which includes students, faculty, staff and external partners; composure in stressful situations; and strong interpersonal and communication skills. Significant experience living, studying, or working abroad. Experience working with diverse groups and with college students or similar populations. Experience developing or managing programs or projects, and working well in a teamenvironment. Professional demeanor. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred qualifications Experience working with customized, short-term, study abroad programs. Work with faculty in higher education; demonstrated collaboration within and across work groups. Demonstrated creative and relevant marketing knowledge. Proficiency in a foreign language. Academic degree in international education or a relevant discipline. Experience working with budgets. Demonstrated regional familiarity with Africa, Asia, or the Middle East.

Working conditions May work around standard office conditions. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Use of manual dexterity.
