Expectation #1: Students are to be prepared every time they come to class. Being prepared means
bringing a blue or black pen, student agenda book, your SUPA U.S. History folder or binder, and
other SUPA U.S. materials to EVERY class. Being prepared also means being ready to learn and
participate in class every day. Students should be in their seats, ready to complete the RAP and copy
the homework into their agenda as soon as class begins.
Materials:
 Binder or Folder – YOU are responsible for keeping your class notes, activities, and outlines
organized.
 Supplementary reading – Throughout the year you will be assigned reading assignments
beyond the textbook. You must bring them back and forth between class and home.
 Lined loose-leaf paper (with refill paper at home)
 Student agenda
 Home folder/binder – Create a safe space at home to keep older course material to be used at
a later date to study for final exams and the U.S. History and Government Regents Exam.
 Pens, pencils, and highlighter (You are EXPECTED to always have a writing tool. If Mrs.
Louer has to loan you a writing tool more than once a quarter you will lose points from your
overall grade)
Expectation #2: Students at Henninger High School are to meet the following expectations at all
times: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe, and Be A Successful Learner.
Expectations #5: Students are expected to attend every class. Class time will be used for lecture,
guided document analysis, and discussion of required course readings and research assignments.
Class time together cannot be duplicated during advisement. Frequently missing class time will place
you at a significant disadvantage and could negatively impact your grade.
Expectation #4: Students are expected to complete all assignments (RAP’s, classwork, research
papers, tests, quizzes, and homework) on time. Late work will result in a loss of 5 points each day an
assignment is not turned in. When a student is absent from class they must complete any
assignments they missed within the time limits given by Mrs. Louer. It is the student’s responsibility
to bring Mrs. Louer a LEGAL excuse for the absence and collect any missed assignments.
Missed/Make-up work will only be given out during advisement located in room 223. At the end of
the course students will take the U.S. History and Government Regents Exam. Passing is a
graduation requirement.
Expectation #5: Cheating and Plagiarism will not be tolerated. Plagiarism is defined as: taking
“ideas, writings, etc. from another and passing them off as one’s own.” (Webster New World
Dictionary of the American Language Second College Edition (Cleveland, 1980, 1087.) If you are
unsure if you are plagiarizing, please seek assistance from Mrs. Louer or another Henninger teacher.
Being caught cheating or plagiarizing will result in strict disciplinary action, not limited to course
failure and loss of Syracuse University credit.
