Office of the President January 16, 2015 Dear Steering Committee Members, I am pleased to let you know that Suffolk County Community College (SCCC) will be working in partnership with The House of Judah as the church moves into a space that will allow for greater community outreach in alignment with its values. Specifically, the College is excited to partner with a critical Non-Profit agency committed to providing needed community health, education, and workforce services and improving the quality of life for its community. As a community college, we have three aspects to our mission that include academic preparation, workforce development, and community outreach. Working collaboratively with our community partners is an institutional priority and not only aids the college in ensuring that we are meeting our mission, but, more importantly, allows us to work with the many county stakeholders dedicated to improving our county. Specifically, I have charged Dr. Christopher Shults, the College’s Executive Director for Planning and Institutional Effectiveness, with leading the team tasked with providing the planning, research, and analytical support that will lead to the development of a comprehensive strategic plan for The House of Judah. In addition to Dr. Shults, the Suffolk County Community College team includes Ms. Carol Wickliffe-Campbell, Executive Assistant to the President, and Dr. Caroline Burns, Specialist in the Office of Planning and Institutional Effectiveness. This team will work in collaboration with the church leadership and membership and directly with the steering committee on this important project. While the attached document provides information on the specifics of the planning process including data gathering methods and a schedule, it is important to note that the overall purpose of the strategic planning process is to provide an opportunity for The House of Judah to engage in purposeful self-reflection, evaluation, and planning. This intentional process will ensure that the mission and vision communicate the greater purpose of the church to internal and external stakeholders, that the identified goals are aligned with the stated mission, that activities, initiatives, and provided services are prioritized, and, most importantly, to increase commitment to achievement of the mission from all constituents. Pastor Steve and I have established trusted teams to carry out this project, however, we are both committed to the project and will stay involved and connected throughout the process. In fact, I will be attending the initial SCCC/THOJ meeting that will be held in the Multi-Purpose Room in the Administration Building on Tuesday, January 20, 2015. I look forward to seeing you all at that meeting and to the successful completion of this project. Sincerely, Dr. Shaun L.
