Whereas some environmentally sound practices are currently in place at Suffolk County
Community College,
Whereas global warming has been recognized as an issue of paramount issue by research
scientists and policy-makers,
Whereas Suffolk County Community College serves in a leadership capacity for both its
students and the community,
Be it hereby resolved that the Eastern Campus Congress accepts the American College &
University Presidents Climate Commitment to implement, within two years, a plan to
achieve climate neutrality, and
Be it further resolved that the Congress of the Eastern Campus urges President Pippins to
sign the Commitment to Climate Neutrality sponsored by the organization of American
College & University Presidents.
