Recreate your favourite creepy crawlies in all their glory! Learn to mix basic colours to bring colourful bugs and beetles to life.
Aimed at developing colour awareness in youngsters, this workshop would also extend skills for young art enthusiasts.
Darin Frankpitt is an exhibiting artist and qualified art teacher with more than six years’ teaching experience.

DANCE LIKE MICHAEL JACKSON:
THRILLER
Tuesday 19 January from 11am to 12pm
Gasworks Theatre | 5 to 14 years | $25
Learn a step-by-step dance routine with moves from the Thriller film clip. If you’re a Michael Jackson fan, then put your dance shoes on, and awaken the zombie dancer within! Parents and friends can watch the dancers perform at the end of the workshop in the theatre. So get your thriller costume together, bring your friends and come join in the fun.
CREATE A SELF-PORTRAIT -
ART WORKSHOP

Learn how to draw your self portrait!
Using a simple method, create a life size portrait with grey lead pencils and coloured pencils. By using special toning techniques, render your portrait as if from a single light source. This method of drawing portraits in proportion can be used as a starting point for creating pictures of your friends and family, too!

SMOOTH CRIMINAL

Jamison, will show you how you can be a magician. BUILD ANIMALS IN CLAY!
ART AND CRAFT WORKSHOP

Create your favourite animal out of clay using hand building techniques. Maybe you’ll build a clay version of your favourite animal, or even make up your very own creation! Paint a wooden plinth to display your sculpture and take it home with you.
Note: Children under 6 years must be accompanied by a parent or carer.

Create a magical painting to hang in your room! Learn how to draw your favourite magical creature using bright colours, expressive tones and imaginative scenes.
Whether its a fire breathing dragon, a sparkling unicorn, or a magical creature that you invent, you’ll leave with a special artwork of your very own.
FENCING - SWORD FIGHTING

En garde! Enjoy an action-packed hour of fencing fun and learn a great new sport.
Nationally accredited coach, Chris Jones, will teach the basic skills of fencing. Try it just for fun, and maybe you’ll take it up as a sport. If you wish, bring a friend your own age/height to spar with. No previous experience necessary.
Owls aren’t born wise, you know, they have to learn it from somewhere.
A young owl named Poot Poot is sent to study at Owl school. On his journey he meets an Echidna, a Wombat, a Kookaburra, a Lyrebird, a Kangaroo and a Platypus who each share with him their own special kind of wisdom.
But will he pass the final test and become wise enough to save the forest? The Owl’s Apprentice is an interactive show for families combining puppetry and physical comedy by award-winning puppeteer, Jenny Ellis.
