After mixing with water, you have a smooth workable mix that is highly thixotropic, very easy to apply with a brush and does not run even when applied on walls and ceilings. The high content of special flexible and highly dispersible polymers confers a low modulus of elasticity on the mortar which guarantees excellent adhesiveness to the concrete reinforcement, providing total protection against corrosion. Hammer and scrape the substrate to remove all loose, crumbling or non-cohesive material until a clean, resistant surface is revealed. Remove the carbonated concrete all around the reinforcement steel, even from those areas which appear to be good. Clean thoroughly using a dry or wet sand blaster.to expose the bare metal (the metal must have a „polished“ finish), without any traces of cement crust, paint residues, release agents, surface dust and rust. Where deterioration is limited, cleaning by hand with a steel brush or other customary tools may be sufficient. If additional reinforcement is required or where the reinforcement cannot be repaired because it is too badly deteriorated and must be substituted, the new reinforcement must be treated in the same way, that is, until it has a “polished” finish. Mix ANTOL CLS SYSTEM FERRI 1K with approximately 22 to 24 % water (about 1.1 to 1.2 litres per 5 kg bag) using a mechanical stirrer (a low-speed drill with a mixer attachment or a mortar mixer). Mix until smooth and free of lumps. The mixture prepared in this way has a pot life of about 40 minutes under normal conditions (23°C). Higher temperatures reduce pot life. Apply a first abundant coat of ANTOL CLS SYSTEM FERRI 1K on the clean, „polished“ reinforcement by hand using a brush. Make sure you cover the entire surface well. Allow to dry for about 2 hours and then apply a second coat, also abundant, so that the total thickness of the product is at least 2 mm. Allow to dry for at least 6 hours, until the surface is hard. Then apply ANTOL CLS SYSTEM MALTA 1K or other specific TORGGLER products for repairing and renovating concrete, such as ANTOL CLS SYSTEM RESTAURO, ANTOL CLS SYSTEM STRUTTURALE and CLS RANGE ANTOL CLS SYSTEM COLABILE, closely following the instructions in the respective technical data sheets. The tools used for applying the mortar may be cleaned with water before it hardens. Once hardened, the mortar must be scraped off. IMPORTANT - As with all cement-based products, do not apply at temperatures below +5°C. - Do not mix the product with other binders such as cement, hydraulic lime, gypsum, etc. - Do not use the mixed product when it has already started to set. Therefore, always prepare quantities of mix which can be used within the pot life. CONSUMPTION The consumption of ANTOL CLS SYSTEM FERRI 1K depends on the diameter of the reinforcement bars used and their surface features (smooth rod or improved adhesion type). Since reinforcement is nearly always of the improved adhesion type, the table below shows the approximate consumption based on the diameter of the reinforcement rods.
