He started his professional music career at the end of his Grade 11 year in school when he was offered his first recording contract. He got married on 07 January 2011 to Anna Rheeders. They have 2 sons, Sion (born 24 Oct 2011) and Leben (born 20 Dec 2012). Bobby played the male lead role in the movie as a young student who falls in love with his professor’s daughter. As this was a musical – the producers used some of South Africa’s most popular singers and actors for this movie. Till date “Liefling” is the Highest grossing Afrikaans film ever made. 02 B O B B Y V As Jy Sing (male lead role) Bobby played the male lead role in the hit Afrikaans movie - As Jy Sing released on 15 Nov 2013. The film was a smash hit and became the no.1 ticket seller at all the Ster Kinekor theatres countrywide. This as well is a musical and once again singers and actors were chosen for the cast. In this movie Bobby plays the part of a teacher. A N J A A R S V E L D 02 THEATRE PRODUCTIONS After the runaway success of Liefling - die Movie – the producers used the story line of the movie and turned it into a theatre production. The show sold out and was a huge success with an astonishing 38 000 tickets sold. Fans travelled 1500 km to Pretoria just to see this production and are demanding more shows to be scheduled. Bobby played the male lead role in this production. In December 2014 “LIEFLING” will be in theatre at Monte Casino’s Teatro. It is the first afrikaans musical to ever play in this theatre. “DROOMKIND, Die Storie van Josef”. Bobby will be playing tyhe lead role of Joseph. This production has recieved rave reviews when it ran in the State theatre in April 2014. MUSICAL PRODUCTIONS In June - July 2012 Bobby was part of a musical production that was wrote by Nathaniël, a well-known performer in South Africa. They had performances in Pretoria, Bloemfontein and Cape Town. MUSICAL EXTRAVAGANZAS From 2007-2011 Bobby was part of Huisgenoot’s Musical Extravaganza that they host annually at the Superbowl in Sun City. In 2012 Bobby was part of the first Afrikaans is Groot Extravaganza hosted in Pretoria, attended by 28 000 fans, and the 2013 show will be attended by an estimated 65 000 people. Bobby was invited to perform at the SAMA Awards in 2010 & 2013 at the Superbowl in Sun City and received various compliments for his performance from fellow performers (from other genres) and political leaders in South Africa who attended the function. Bobby has been part of the largest annual afrikaans conert “Afrikaans is groot” in the southern hemisphere since 2012. It has sold out every year so far, including the upcoming show in November where 78000 tickets were sold. INTERNATIONAL SONG WRITING COMPETITION: Bobby wrote a gospel song, Thank You, which was recorded on his second Album, Net Vir Jou. He entered this song in the 2011 song writing competition hosted by ISC Nashville TN. The song ended in the Top 20 list of songs, from 16000 entries in the category, and was given a ‘Honorary Mention’ in the competition.
