Make sure you know each organelle’s function and location without looking at
your projec for help!
OPTION A: Organelle Model
Pick one organelle and build a model that demonstrates the structure and function of
the organelle.
* Provide a paragraph describing how your model resembles the organelle (typed)
** I do not expect you to buy any materials for this project! Use items found at home or
outside!
OPTION B: Children’s Picture Book
Create and illustrate an organelle picture book. Include a picture and summary for each
organelle addressed in class.
* Each page should depict the structure and function of the organelle.
* Each summary can be written as part of a story or as a general description.
PICTURES MUST BE HAND- DRAWN / CREATED
OPTION C: Organelle Soundtrack
Compile music that demonstrates your knowledge of each organelle addressed in class.
- Each song should represent the structure and/or function of an organelle.
- A song may also represent the relationship between a couple organelles.
* Do NOT use songs with profanity or inappropriate lyrics (when in doubt, ask!)
- Submit song on a CD/zip drive as audio tracks
- Submit a play list that includes (typed):
* Title and artist
* Related organelle
* Reasoning behind song choice
Example. The Power – by SNAP…………………………Mitochondria
OPTION D: Write Your Own Songs
Write an original song for 3 organelles (3 different songs)
- each song should demonstrate your knowledge of the structure and function of the
organelle
- each song must be AT LEAST twelve lines long
- one of the songs need to be performed for the class
* you can opt to take a song you already know and rewrite the lyrics to fit the organelle
* you can opt to record it yourself!!!
OPTION E: Write Your Own Poems
Write an original song for 3 organelles (3 different songs)
- each poem should demonstrate your knowledge of the structure and function of the
organelle
- each poem must be AT LEAST twelve lines long
- one of the poems need to be performed for the class
OPTION F: Edible Cell Creation
Construct a plant cell out of completely edible material, but not necessarily palatable.
All models must be made out of materials that will not spoil. Your project must have a
key included that has three columns (organelle, how it is represented, function of
organelle)
* If it is edible, we will eat the project after the presentation
* Also, you need to know ALL organelles during your presentation
EXTRA CREDIT
For extra credit you may include an organelle that we do not address in class in your
project.
Choose from  Lysosome
 Centrioles
Ex.
A. It may be included in your model, with a separate explanation
B. Complete a storybook page for it.
C. Find and explain a song for the organelle.
** See me if you have another idea for this project that you would like to pursue!
