Memory Analogies Psychology Class – Memory Unit Your task is to examine the “paradigm” of memory. You want to see how the textbook draws a diagram of the memory system, a paradigm, and then relate it to another concept. The textbook diagrams will be provided along with paper and some craft supplies. Draw an “analogy paradigm” of memory using a concept such as fly fishing, driving down a highway, grocery shopping, a water cooler, or other concept to relate objects to the important component parts of memory. You may use a partner. You must present and explain your concept to the rest of the class. Feel free to use your sense of humor and innate creativity to enhance your work. 50% of the vocabulary terms must be employed in your final diagram/paradigm. *************** Grading: “Checkmark System Averaging” Presentation Value (25%) Your poster should be presentable and visible with school appropriate concepts. Your explanation should clarify the meaning of your poster. You and your partner should speak well and in some organized manner. Application Value (25%) Your analogy has some parallel to the actual memory process and systems. Accuracy needs to be close enough (within bounds of chosen, creative idea). Completion Value (25%) Finished work in class within the time given. No conflicts with partners. Absences did not affect work. Accuracy and Vocabulary (25%) Analogy incorporated the major memory components. Analogy incorporated 50% or more of relevant vocabulary.
