CONNELLSVILLE AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF EDUCATION REGULAR BOARD MEETING –OCTOBER 17, 2007 Minutes of the regular meeting of the Board of School Directors of the Connellsville Area School District held in the Connellsville Area Senior High School, 201 Falcon Drive, Connellsville, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, at 7:00 PM. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by the President, Francis Mongell at 7:10 p.m. ROLL CALL Karen Blocker Thomas Dolde Richard Galand Jeffrey Harvey Kevin Lape Loretta Lint Francis Mongell Ed Zadylak Kenneth Nicholson was absent. Others present included Superintendent Duncan, District Administrators Chrise, Clawson, Cunningham, Lembo, Marko, Matthews, Omatick, Savini and Wilson, Building Administrator Stern, Solicitor Cordaro, two reporters and approximately five concerned citizens. MOMENT OF SILENCE/PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE A moment of silence was observed and followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, led by President Mongell. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING President Mongell called for approval of the minutes of the September 19, 2007, meeting, whereupon motion was made by Mr. Galand and seconded by Mrs. Lint to approve said minutes, a copy of same having been previously received by all board members and distributed to all buildings. The following voted in favor: Blocker, Dolde, Galand, Harvey, Lape, Lint, Mongell and Zadylak. TREASURER’S REPORT President Mongell called for approval of the Treasurer's Report, whereupon motion was made by Mrs. Lint and seconded by Mrs. Blocker to approve said report, having same spread upon the minutes. Page 55 of 59 CONNELLSVILLE AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF EDUCATION REGULAR BOARD MEETING –OCTOBER 17, 2007 Motion was made by Mr. Dolde and seconded by Mrs. Blocker to table the request for the Board of School Directors of the Connellsville Area School District to hereby authorize the Administration to work with Public Financial Management, Inc. as Financial Advisor, Thorp Reed & Armstrong, LLP, as Bond Counsel and the local Solicitor to prepare the necessary documents and analyses for a new money financing in the amount of $10,000,000 as seen in Option 2 of the PFM analysis for sale via a competitive internet auction. SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT It is hard to believe we are nearing the end of our first nine-week grading period for the 2007-08 school term. Thank the board for approval of the new CDL training cooperative program with Stone & Company. This will greatly enhance employment opportunities in Connellsville Area and provide better paying jobs. Plans are being finalized for our second Veteran’s Day Program to be held on November 8 at Connellsville Area Senior High School, beginning at 8:00 A.M... Senior high school students are to invite a Veteran to share breakfast and the special program, which will be broadcast live on our district TV channel. Veterans need not wait for a student invitation, just contact Linda Shearer at the senior high school and let her know you would like to be part of the program. We will soon be facing winter weather.
