Course Description
ISM-San Antonio has experience preparing members to pass all three (3) exams to obtain the CPSM professional
certification. Beginning Tuesday, February 16th, and continuing each Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. we will offer a thorough
front to back review for each of the exam modules. The review sessions will be hosted by NuStar Energy at FM 1604 and
Bitters Rd. Much like a normal college course there is weekly reading assigned, group discussion of the covered topics,
and practice test questions to help prepare you for the types of questions that will be on the exams.
The cost for each module will be $100 (discounted to $250 for all 3 modules paid up front) and you will receive a Student
Participant’s guide to use during the weekly sessions which will include practice questions. Each participant is required
to obtain their own copies of the official 3 volume set of CPSM Study Guides prior to the start of the sessions which can
be purchased directly from ISM on their website listed below under “required materials”.
Please note that unlike the previous certification offered by ISM, the Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.), the new
CPSM requires the qualifying professional to have a degree from an accredited college/university, a minimum of 3 years
experience in non-clerical supply chain job functions, and, of course, passing the 3 exam modules. For more information
on the CPSM please contact Michael Mundahl ( michael.mundahl@kci1.com ).
Course Objective
Participants will comprehensively review all topics covered in the three volumes of the CPSM Study Guide and should be
better equipped to pass each of the exams.
Required Materials
All participants must purchase their own copy of the 3 volume CPSM Study Guide from ISM. The link to purchase the
study guide can be found here: http://www.ism.ws/products/productdetail.cfm?ItemNumber=17934
Target Student
These review sessions are intended for supply chain professionals who are actively seeking to become credentialed by
ISM. Participants must already have a 4 year college degree or be in the process of obtaining their 4 year degree.
Additionally, individuals seeking to obtain the CPSM designation must have (or be pursuing) a minimum of 3 years nonclerical supply chain work experience.
This course is also recommended for current C.P.M.s who are preparing for the Bridge exam. It is NOT a Bridge material
only study session—but all the Bridge exam materials will be covered in the course of the review sessions.
Understanding the new topics covered on the Bridge exam can best be accomplished in context of the whole study
guide.
Attendees will receive the following
Participant guide containing course outline and sample exam questions
Answer sets for the sample questions with explanations of the reasoning in the question
Delivery Method
Systematic, instructor led, interactive discussion, classroom-delivery learning model
Performance-Based Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- understand the basic structure of each of the 3 exams
- recognize the types and styles of questions used on the exams
- generally understand all the major topics covered within each exam
- be better equipped to successfully pass the 3 exams
