AREA FACILITIES MAINTENANCE MECHANIC
BRIEF STATEMENT ABOUT THE JOB:* Service, maintain, make minor repairs to and perform
preventive maintenance on a wide variety of systems such as heating and ventilating and
refrigeration equipment, to include components and controls; plumbing, to include drains, fixtures,
piping, pumps, etc.; and electrical, to include components from load side of breaker through
switches, motors, ballasts, receptacles, etc. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Operate various hand and
power tools; utilize various types of instruments to diagnose equipment malfunctions; read and
interpret drawings, sketches and blueprints; occasionally assist higher grade tradesman;
knowledge equivalent to 1 to 3 years of applied trades training; plus 2 to 3 years of effective
experience. NOTE: EMPLOYEE MUST BE ABLE TO WEAR A RESPIRATOR AND WILL BE
SUBJECT TO MEDICAL CLEARANCE.
AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN
BRIEF STATEMENT ABOUT THE JOB:* Service and repair automobiles, trucks, various pieces
of road, farm, lawn, and golf course equipment. Remove, disassemble, repair, reassemble,
reinstall, test, and adjust equipment and/or component parts such as gasoline and diesel engines,
standard and automatic transmissions, alternators, and generators, carburetors, electrical
systems, drive shafts and differentials, brake systems, etc. Diagnose problems, which occur with
automobile clients’ control systems. Remove, disassemble, repair, reassemble, install, test and
adjust as appropriate air conditioning compressors, condensers, receiver/dryers, expansion
valves, evaporators and throttle valves. Inspect vehicles according to Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania inspection regulations. Requisition parts from stock room and record same. JOB
REQUIREMENTS: Requires PA Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Class A, Tanker and
Hazardous Materials Endorsements with L & C Restrictions removed, MACS or equivalent air
conditioning certification, Class 1 and 3 PA State Inspection License and Emissions Certification;
knowledge equivalent to 4 years of a complete, accredited, indentured apprenticeship; plus 2 to 3
years of effective experience. NOTE: THIS POSITION IS SUBJECT TO FEDERAL
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TESTING FOR ALCOHOL AND CONTROLLED
SUBSTANCES (49 CFR PART 40), AND PHYSICAL EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS AS PER
67 PA. CODE 231.85.
ENVIRONMENTAL SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN
BRIEF STATEMENT ABOUT THE JOB:* Analyze building environmental control problems such
as, but not limited to temperature, humidity, static pressure, air flows, noise and air quality, and
recommend solutions for implementation. Evaluate entire ATC systems, modify or update, and
replace with new systems as required. Set up and calibrate new and updated ATC systems as
required by construction sketches, working drawings and specifications. Trace out and analyze
environmental control systems, gather field information and develop sketches to provide for the
development of as built system documentation. Set up and balance new and renovated HVAC
systems, including steam, chilled water, hot water and air flows. Service, maintain, repair, and
replace domestic and commercial heating and ventilating systems and auxiliary components.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Requires knowledge equivalent to a complete, accredited indentured
apprenticeship program, plus 3 to 4 years of effective experience. NOTE: EMPLOYEE MUST BE
ABLE TO WEAR A RESPIRATOR AND WILL BE SUBJECT TO MEDICAL CLEARANCE.
HEAT & VENT TECHNICIAN
BRIEF STATEMENT ABOUT THE JOB:* Service, maintain, repair, install, and replace domestic
and commercial heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems. Inspect, maintain, repair, and
install converters, radiators, radiation units, and coils to include valving, traps, strainers, and
tubing of units. Direct the work of lower grade employees and apprentices. JOB
REQUIREMENTS: Requires work from complicated drawings, sketches, job layouts and heat
control diagrams; use of various precision recording and testing gauges such as voltmeters,
ammeters, etc.; equivalent to a complete, accredited, indentured apprenticeship program; plus 2
to 3 years of effective experience. NOTE: EMPLOYEE MUST BE ABLE TO WEAR A
RESPIRATOR AND WILL BE SUBJECT TO MEDICAL CLEARANCE.
REFRIGERATION TECHNICIAN
BRIEF STATEMENT ABOUT THE JOB:*.Service, maintain, repair, install and replace domestic
and commercial refrigeration units, air cooling equipment, absorption and centrifugal liquid chilling
units, refrigerated laboratory equipment; associated equipment and controls including electrical,
electronic, pneumatic, pressure and thermo-static. Perform routine schedule maintenance and
perform cleaning and adjustment of equipment as required. Maintain proper cooling temperatures
in air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Install associated piping. Work with lead technician
on complicated repairs and construction of special units. Direct the work of lower grade
employees and apprentices. Operate motor vehicle. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Work from
complicated drawings, specifications and diagrams; use refrigeration formulas; knowledge
equivalent to 4 years of a complete, accredited, indentured apprenticeship; plus 2 to 3 years
effective experience. Must possess the DER approved Refrigerant Transition and Recovery
Certification. NOTE: EMPLOYEE MUST BE ABLE TO WEAR A RESPIRATOR AND WILL BE
SUBJECT TO MEDICAL CLEARANCE.
REFRIGERATION TECHNICIAN (UTILITIES)
BRIEF STATEMENT ABOUT THE JOB* Service, maintain, repair, install and replace absorption,
centrifugal and other liquid chilling units and their auxiliary components. Run gas lines and other
lines involved. Install, service, maintain and repair controls and devices to include electric,
pneumatic, electronic, thermostatic, pressure, flow switches, level controls, etc on listed units and
auxiliary components.. Dismantle units and auxiliary equipment, determine extent of repairs and
replace worn or defective parts. Determine, schedule and perform cleaning of units such as
interiors of strainers and interiors and exteriors of cooling water towers, etc. Perform routine
scheduled maintenance on units and their auxiliary components. Lubricate specified points and
make various adjustments. Maintain logs and records as required and insure proper amounts of
gas and cooling agents are maintained. Maintain proper cooling temperatures and pressures in
chiller systems to support the proper operation of building systems. Perform summer/winter
changeover to include maintenance and repair of changeover valves, controls, and devices as
required. Direct the work of lower grade employees and apprentices as required. Operate motor
vehicle as required. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Work from complicated drawings, specifications and
diagrams. Use refrigeration formulas. Knowledge of refrigeration techniques and procedures.
Equivalent to complete accredited indentured apprenticeship program. Must have the DEP
approved Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification plus 2 to 3 years of effective
experience. NOTE: EMPLOYEE MUST BE ABLE TO WEAR A RESPIRATOR AND WILL BE
SUBJECT TO MEDICAL CLEARANCE. NOTE: THIS POSITION WILL PROVIDE SCHEDULED
VACATION COVERAGE FOR OTHER SHIFTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.
