Research Technician This is an entry level position requiring 2-5 years experience in a laboratory or research setting. The successful candidate will be part of the METIS Laboratory team supporting research projects in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical realm. The role of the Research Technician is to perform a variety of routine to complex experimental process and/or laboratory operations. The Research Technician will work closely with other technicians, project managers and researchers directing the projects experimental work. The position requires working a regular shift: 9 am - 5 pm, Monday through Friday with potential overtime. In addition, the Research Technician may be required to work scheduled overtime on weekends. Ensure data is collected and processed according to standard operation procedures (SOPs). Responsibilities Perform protocols for autoradiography, histology, receptor binding studies, rodent drug dosing and dissection. Act as a lead in the design, development, optimization, validation and quality control of new inhouse procedures Maintain a focus on personal safety and the safety of others, follow all safety and health procedures and respond to emergencies as per established procedures. Actively participate in team meetings, safety reviews and training Maintain detailed records of experimental data and perform preliminary data analysis Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory Organizes work and time to manage multiple project responsibilities; adapts to and performs under changing priorities and deadlines Provide all job-related progress reports/technical reports as requested Performs light duties and other related duties as required and assigned Assist in managing inventory for all laboratory supplies Excellent written and verbal communication skills needed as this position works closely with other research technicians, scientists and project managers. Minimum Qualifications Education: 2 year Degree (BS/BA in life sciences preferred) Prior experience as a technician, however willing to train the right candidate (at least 2 - 5 years preferred) Must be able to follow standard operating procedures (SOP) in a laboratory Physical Capabilities: Work may involve long periods of standing and handling chemicals and/or hazardous materials Must be able to work independently following a brief period of specific technical training.
